— In-game Story |
Lone Fortress is the fifth island realms mission in Minecraft Dungeons, and is part of the Creeping Winter DLC. It is unlocked after the completion of Frosted Fjord, and completing Lone Fortress does not unlock any missions.
Appearance and description
Lone Fortress is a large frostbitten castle located north of Frosted Fjord. It is composed of long hallways, open outdoor sections, and thin paths set atop the battlements of the fortress. It features decorated blue carpet, statues of enchanters and horses, torches, wooden catapults, lilypads, blue stained glass windows, frozen water pools and waterfalls, bookcases, chandeliers, and paintings of the Arch-Illager with "weak" and "foe" graffitied on them. Upon entering the first indoor portion of the mission, a blue locked gateway can be found up a set of stairs that must be unlocked using a diamond key golem located on one of the long paths to the sides. The diamond key golem can either be in an area with a chasm filled with skeletons perched on stone pillars, or it can instead be in an elevated library locked behind several gates lowered by activating buttons and defeating ambushes. After opening the blue locked gateway, a tall spiral staircase must be climbed to reach a ruined bridge that has become completely frozen by the extreme cold. Near the end of the mission, two locked gateways, one blue and one yellow, can be found in an open indoor area of the fortress. By navigating around the center section to the west side and following the path down, the center section containing a diamond key golem can be reached. Upon defeating an ambush, the heroes can escape the center section and return the diamond key golem to the blue locked gate, granting access to several emerald urns and creating a pathway to the gold key golem. Upon opening the yellow locked gate using the gold key golem, the frozen arena containing the Wretched Wraith, along with statues of royal guards on the walls, can be reached. Upon defeating the Wretched Wraith, the gate to the north-east will be lowered, granting access to an elevated area with a toppled blue throne, green torches, and statues depicting a hero defeating a dragon. It is here that the exit of the fortress can be found which, if entered, ends the mission.
