STORM AT THE SUMMIT - A shard from the Orb of Dominance landed atop these mountain peaks, and now dark storms howl and snows swirl around the summit. The powerful winds carry the corrupting power of the shard, and if it is not stopped the world will surely be blown away by its power. Any hero who dares to free the mountaintop from the shard’s grip will have to battle not just the elements but also the hordes of Illagers racing to the peak.

In-game story

Windswept Peaks is the sixth island realms mission in Minecraft Dungeons, and is part of the Howling Peaks DLC. It is unlocked after the completion of Squid Coast, and completing Windswept Peaks unlocks Gale Sanctum.

It has a rare chance to generate the Ravine Ruins optional sub dungeon that contains a scroll which, if collected, unlocks the Colossal Rampart secret mission.

Appearance and description[edit | edit source]

Windswept Peaks is a tall, expansive mountain covered in snow and windblown trees. It is composed of thin, winding walkways suspended over foggy chasms linked together by wooden lifts. It features a basecamp, wind-blowing machines, reddish-brown foliage, dark stone brick ruins, a basecamp, wind beacons, an expansive cave, white glowing lanterns, swinging coals, waterfalls, wooden lifts, and foggy canyons with packed ice at the bottom. The starting area of the mission contains a tent and campfire with a basecamp up the cliffs to the north-west. Several optional ambushes can be found on sidepaths around the basecamp, and a required ambush can be found to the north-east in the center of a dark stone brick ruin. Upon defeating the ambush, a gate will be lowered that grants access to a pathway that leads to a large cliff face with a lower pathway, middle pathway, and upper pathway. Two wind beacons can be found on two of the three pathways, with the upper pathway's wind beacon being locked behind an ambush that, if successfully activated, opens the entrance door of Mountain Cave. Mountain Cave is an expansive windy cavern that connects the first and second parts of Windswept Peaks. At the start of Mountain Cave, a supplies chest can be found along with an ambush to the north-east. After defeating the ambush, an open area of stone monoliths can be found further north-east, with dangerously strong winds permeating thin wooden bridges. Near the end of the cave, several captured llamas can be freed to gain access to a fancy chest, some of which require caged ravagers to be released using buttons in order to reach the llamas. After defeating another ambush, the exit door of Mountain Cave can be reached, granting access to a tall open area filled with waterfalls that features several wooden lifts. To the north-west, the first wooden lift can be used to reach two upper areas of the chasm, the highest of which leads further up the mountain. Upon navigating across the windy stone walkway to the south-east and traveling across the thin stone brick bridge to the north, an ambush can be reached that, if defeated, grants access to a second wooden lift. This second wooden lift can be used as an optional way of descending back down to the base of the chasm, and it can be used to reach an additional two upper areas of the chasm, the higher of which grants access to another supplies chest and leads further into the mission. To the north-east past the strong winds, another ambush can be found that, if defeated, grants access to an additional two ambushes that can be activated simultaniously. Defeating one of the two ambushes grants access further north-east, where a blue locked gateway and diamond key golem can occasionally generate. Upon crossing a long wooden bridge, the exterior ruins around a sanctum can be reached where a wind puzzle can be found. Completing the wind puzzle using the three buttons grants access to the entrance of the sanctum which, if entered, ends the mission.

Voiceovers[edit | edit source]

The shards from the Orb of Dominance still wreak havoc on the Overworld. These jagged mountain peaks are no exception. Howling storms scour the path to the summit, and unless the shard is destroyed, these winds will become the storm that blows out the last flicker of hope for this world.

Opening voiceover

After weathering both elements and adversaries to reach the summit, a hidden sanctum is revealed among the peaks.

  • Ravine Ruins, the optional sub dungeon that contains the scroll to unlock Colossal Rampart, has the lowest chance of spawning of all optional sub dungeons that contain scrolls. It requires "Chests:0/12".
  • The ambient music that plays in this mission changes to High in the areas after Mountain Cave.
  • The only instance where the song Ascension is used is the ambush near the start of the mission in the basecamp. All other ambushes in this mission use the song Summit.
