Tinted glass is a block that blocks light while being visually transparent.

Usage

The light from a glowstone is completely blocked by tinted glass.

Tinted glass behaves like an opaque block, blocking light completely, despite being visually translucent. However, mobs do not suffocate if inside it, like regular glass.

  • MC-264681 – Tinted glass doesn't have ambient occlusion when smooth lighting is enabled
  • MC-267262 – Some translucent blocks are not rendered behind tinted glass blocks when pushed by pistons.

Bedrock Edition

  • MCPE-199220 – Vibrant Visuals: Stained glass is not tinted
  • MCPE-129131 – Flowing lava and water look very dark inside tinted glass
  • MCPE-172645 – Light sources are completely dark when adjacent to tinted glass
  • MCPE-184154 – Stained glass and tinted glass are translated identically in Italian
