A version of Indev 0.31 was released on January 31, 2010, at 21:56 UTC, which added title screen.[1] It was announced on TWoN at 22:01 UTC.[2]

This version was reuploaded for the first time at 22:29 UTC.[3]

This version was soon reuploaded for the second time at 22:36 UTC.[4]

This version was soon reuploaded for the third time at 22:41 UTC to fix a bug that caused the "Back to game" button to not work.[5]

This version was reuploaded for the final time at 22:44 UTC to add vede's damage model suggestion (see the reference).[6]

General
  • Readded support for older mob models.

General

Title screen
  • Comprises all of the buttons and text for both the main menu and the pause menu.
  • Has a game logo and dirt background which slowly scrolls.
Splash
  • The yellow text "Pre-beta!" pulsates on the menu screen 120 times per minute.

Blocks

Water
  • Texture can now be seen while underwater.
  • Swimming creates bubble particles.
Brown mushrooms
  • Now emit light.[7]
Water spawner
  • Now creates water even if any previous attached water was removed.
Lava spawner
  • Now creates lava even if any previous attached lava was removed.
Workbench
  • Now uses the wooden planks texture on the bottom instead of the wood top texture.
  • Still uses the old model, but with wooden planks texture on the bottom.

Items

  • Now get destroyed by fire and lava.
  • Flint and steel removed from the hotbar.
  • Swords are used to deal more damage than punching.
    • Diamond sword: 16HP♥ × 8
    • Gold sword: 4HP♥♥
    • Iron sword: 12HP♥ × 6
    • Stone sword: 8HP♥♥♥♥
    • Wood sword: 4HP♥♥
  • Higher tier tools mine faster.
  • Tools now take damage when used.
    • Diamond: 257 durability
    • Gold: 33 durability
    • Iron: 129 durability
    • Stone: 65 durability
    • Wood: 33 durability
    • Flint and steel: 65 durability
  • Swords take 1 damage when hitting a mob and 2 damage when breaking a block.

Mobs

Mob
  • Changed the model back to the one used for the player.
  • The string/feather/sulphur drops are no longer determined by the mob's appearance and instead one item type is now randomly picked to be dropped upon death.

Gameplay

  • Changed block shading on the sides of blocks for a third time in Indev.
  • Fullscreen mode now makes the hotbar, GUI's and text slightly larger.
  • Punching mobs deals 1HP♥ damage.
  • Bedrock now appears at the bottom-most 2 layers of the world.
  • The lava sea only generates whenever caves cut through the top layer of bedrock.
    • The bottom layer of bedrock can very rarely have gaps.

Fixes

From the previous version
  • The number on hotbar items no longer pulses when new items are picked up.
  • Bows no longer disappear when used without arrows.
