13w24b is the fourteenth snapshot for Java Edition 1.6.1, released on June 14, 2013 to fix some of the bugs and crashes in the 13w24a snapshot.

Status effects

• Added Absorption effect.
  • Replaces Health Boost effect in golden apples.
  • Also added to effects of enchanted golden apples.

Carpet

• Can now be placed on top of any block.
  • This includes blocks such as water source blocks, saplings, torches, chests, other carpets, etc.
• This is part of the fix for being unable to place carpet on iron bars.

Commands

• The damage dealt by /kill is changed from 1.000 to 3.4×10³⁸

• MC-9917 – In multiplayer screen holding shift and pressing "down" without selecting any server crashes the game.

• MC-16530 – When under resistance effects above 5, /kill command does not work.
• MC-17037 – No error report when minecraft crashes.
• MC-17701 – Fire Animation Jumps and skips frames.
