Spoiler warning
Spoiler warning! This section contains detailed information about Minecraft Dungeons that may spoil your enjoyment of it. Read at your own risk!

After the shattering of the Orb of Dominance, one of the shards of the Orb landed into a lonely fortress on one of "the island realms of the Overworld",[1] where it was found by a wraith that dwelled within the grand chamber "where unknown royalty[2] entertained their guests" in some distant past.[3] Despite screaming with a furious rage at the agony that the shard causes it, the wraith adorns the shard into the icy crown which it fiercely guards.[3]

As a result of the shard's corruption, the wraith became known as the wretched wraith and the weather was corrupted to plunge the once bountiful island into an "eternal winter" where snow and ice overwhelmed many settlements, forcing the residents to abandon their homes. Many traders that visited the island before have reported that they witnessed the shard fall among the fortress walls with some traders suspecting that it was even responsible for the corrupted weather.[1] It is possible that the heroes first learned of the shard's corruption from these reports.

Upon reaching the grand chamber of the lone fortress, the heroes come across an icy crown with the shard on a pedestal. Attempting to take it causes the wretched wraith to rise up and grab the crown. It then tries to fend off the heroes. Once the heroes manage to "wrestle the crown" away from the wretched wraith's hard grasp and destroy the shard, the wretched wraith picks it up and shakes it before screaming as a beam of light shines upon it, freeing it from the agony that the shard had put it through. The icy crown then falls to the ground and cannot be interacted with. The heroes then leave the fortress, as the island could now recover and experience a new summer.[3]

Spawning[edit | edit source]

Behavior[edit | edit source]

The wretched wraith has five different behaviors. In between them, it randomly hovers and teleports around the arena.

Basic attack

The wretched wraith uses its melee attack to knock the hero back, then it teleports away.

Ghostfire

The wretched wraith moves one of its arms and simply fires a fast-moving icy projectile toward the hero.

Row projectile attack

The wretched wraith teleports to one side of the arena, and then fires a barrage of slow-moving projectiles in the following pattern, which are centered on the hero:

  • Fires two continuous lines of projectiles from its sides in a cone-shape, as well as a sparse line in the middle.
  • Fires a continuous but mildly sparse spread of projectiles.
Vulnerable stun

The wretched wraith may become stunned for five seconds after taking damage and does not move or attack. Its defense is also reduced by 60% during this.

Summon minions

The wretched wraith summons either two strays and one wraith or one wraith, one stray, one icy creeper and one frozen zombie.

Health[edit | edit source]

The Wretched Wraith has 11,000 HP in the code. On Default I, all mobs have 9.6% health and 12% damage of what is set in the code. This is the second health of all bosses than the Redstone Monstrosity.
