Tutorial:Starting in the End

Jump to navigation Jump to search

Starting in the End can be challenging as you cannot obtain wood easily. This tutorial will walk you through the process of surviving in the End assuming that you spawn in the outer islands.

Getting Food[edit | edit source]

Getting Food is necessary when it comes to surviving in Minecraft. It can both fill your hunger saving you from starvation and regenerate your health. It's surprisingly easy to get food in the End as you can break chorus plant to get chorus fruit. It's not the best food in the game but it's enough to keep you full. Chorus fruit has the side effect of teleporting you but I'll talk about how to use it for your advantage later in the page.

Getting Ender Pearls[edit | edit source]

Ender pearls can be essential to teleport between End islands. You can obtain them by digging some Endstone with your fist to carve 2 block tall room into the ground where you can safely kill enderman. They have a chance of dropping an Ender pearl.

Getting Tools, Armour and more[edit | edit source]

If you want to beat the Ender dragon, you need to have some armor and tools. Unfortunately, you can't just mine for materials there. There's only one way to obtain them... End cities are the only structure that can generate in the outer islands, which can have some really good loot. The only problem is surviving the Shulkers and actually finding one.

Once you finally find one, You can use your Ender pearls to teleport up to the "balconies" of the city as Shulkers generally don't spawn there. Look through the tinted windows until you see some Chests. If you see some, go near the chests from outside and mine into them from behind where you can open them and hopefully get some good loot. If you find a Chestplate with Curse of Binding, do not equip it as you won't be able to wear an Elytra later.

Repeat this until you have a pickaxe and more good items. If you happen to find an End ship, either teleport to it with your Ender pearls or gather some Endstone with your brand new pickaxe and tower up to it. Quickly kill the Shulker and get the Potion of Healings from the Brewing Stand for future use. If you happen to get hit by a Shulker projectile, don't worry, eat one of your Chorus fruits and it will teleport you safely to the ground. If you don't, grab your Elytra (or take one quickly)and the loot and equip the Elytra. Now you can easily glide between the islands. Just don't forget to keep an eye on its durability. It's a good practice to fly to more ships and gather more Elytra!

Survive[edit | edit source]

Try mining out an end city, and use the dropped blocks to make a house. Or, you could defeat the Ender Dragon to gain access to the Overworld. Now that you have lots of building materials, you can make a little house and survive in the end. Villagers can be transferred into the End, and you can get food and better loot by either trading or entering the Nether.

Beating the Ender Dragon[edit | edit source]

The ender dragon is, of course, the final boss of Minecraft. You might be able to beat it if you are patient, although it's nearly impossible. The hardest part, if didn’t start there, is actually getting there.

First, gather more than 1500 blocks and fly towards 0,0 using your coordinates. Once the End seemingly ends, Bridge towards 0,0. It will take forever but it's possible.

Once you finally reach it, fight the boss as normal. After it is defeated, you can escape to the overworld. if you started there you probably gotten as far away as you could with a bridge. Carefully walk across the “tightrope” you made with armor and tool and fight the Dragon as normal.
