This feature is exclusive to Bedrock Edition.

Bedrock Edition releases regular development versions for users to test features for upcoming updates. On most platforms, development versions are released through a separate client, Minecraft Preview. On Android, development versions are released as beta updates to Minecraft. This tutorial will show you how to join and leave Minecraft Preview and the beta program, and give warnings about what development versions may do to your world.

Requirements[edit | edit source]

Minecraft Preview is available on Windows, Xbox, iOS, iPadOS, and PlayStation. On Xbox and PlayStation, you must own the digital version of Minecraft, and not the disc version, in order to install Minecraft Preview. Beta versions are available on Android.

Warnings[edit | edit source]

Development versions are not fully tested and may contain bugs that crash the game or corrupt your world. It is recommended to regularly back up worlds when playing development versions or only play in new worlds.

Joining[edit | edit source]

  1. Open the Microsoft Store app.
  2. Search for "Minecraft Preview."
    • The search bar is in the top right of the window.

iOS and iPadOS[edit | edit source]

On iOS and iPadOS, installing Minecraft Preview is done through TestFlight. You can sign up for Minecraft Preview here, but keep in mind that spots are limited. Spots are freed up on or around the 1st of each month. You must play a new version at least once a month in order to keep your spot.
