Guide to Minecraft Dungeons:
A Handbook for Heroes

A hero, also known as an adventurer, is the terminology used for the player character in Minecraft Dungeons.

A player must choose a hero before playing the game. Many options are available. There are four heroes that are deemed as being the strongest. Unlike in Minecraft, no custom heroes can be brought into the game without using third party game mods.

A hero interacts with in-game objects, mobs, and non-player characters (NPCs). The NPCs in the Camp interact with the player's hero. The in-game narrator also refers to the player's character as the "hero".

In contrast to the hero, the player interacts with things outside the game, such as game menus like the hero selector, options, purchasing downloadable content (DLC), and developer interactions.
