A cape is a type of cosmetic that appears on the hero's back and can be obtained through various methods, mainly seasonal adventures and seasonal trials. They can be equipped in the "Capes" section of the cosmetics tab in the inventory.

List of capes[edit | edit source]

There are sixteen obtainable capes and four capes that were not implemented.

MonstrosityGoldenCape

A cape fit for heroes who are brave enough to face off against the Arch-Illager. Included in the Hero Edition, Hero Pass, Ultimate Edition, and the Ultimate DLC Bundle. This cape texture has been changed from plain red to have the Minecraft Dungeons icon on it with the 1.2.0.0 Update.[1][2]
  • Design idea of this cape was suggested on [Monday September 16th 2019 15:08:13 GMT+0200] on reddit by u/LeeJowReddit.
  • Mojang tweaked the design to their liking.
  • Screenshot of conversation about how the cape design idea was invented.
  • In the game files, the hero cape is referred to internally as the MonstrosityGoldenCape. Originally the hero cape was referred to internally as the RedstoneMonstrosityGoldenCape.

Sinister Cape
SinisterBlueCape

Old and torn, this cape struggles to keep up with the wind. A thank you to our +10 million players.[3] In the game files, the sinister cape is referred to internally as the SinisterBlueCape and the BlueCape.
Phantom Cape

PhantomCape

No need to panic, you're not sleep deprived and seeing Phantoms! This Phantom Cape is all real and yours. Participated in the Spookier Fall event. The cape is first available from Oct 13, 2021 to Nov 2, 2021. Obtained during the Spookier Fall Seasonal Trials by completing 6 of the seasonal trials.
  • In the game files, the phantom cape is referred to internally as the PhantomCape.
Birthday Cape

Year1Cape

This confectionary-inspired cape will make anyone the hero of the party! Participated in the 1st year Anniversary event. Obtained by completing 7 Anniversary Event Seasonal Trials.[4] [5]
  • The cape and the Anniversary Event marks the game's release anniversary. The cape was first available from May 26th, 2021.
  • In the game files, the birthday cape is referred to internally as the Year1Cape and the 1stBirthdayCape.
Downpour Cape

A stormcloud in cape form. Obtained as a free Cloudy Climb Seasonal Adventure reward at Rank 50. Revealed on November 23 in a Twitter video.[6]
Prism Cape

PrismCape

A black cape with a white stripe that hits a triangle and splits into a rainbow. Obtained as a premium Cloudy Climb Seasonal Adventure reward at Rank 25. Revealed on November 23 in a Twitter video.[6]
Cloudy Climb Cape

SeasonCape

The signature cape of the Cloudy Climb season (Season 1). Obtained as a premium Cloudy Climb Seasonal Adventure reward at rank 50. Revealed on November 23 in a Twitter video.[6]
Iceologer Cape

IceologerCape

Chill out and try the Iceologer Cape on for a spell. It may not protect you from falling ice chunks, but it does look pretty cool Participated in the Festival of Frost event. Free to the participants of the Festival of Frost event.[7]
Glow Cape

GlowCape

This cape glows in the dark thanks to the splatter of glow squid ink! Obtained as a free Luminous Night Seasonal Adventure reward at Rank 50.
Luminous Night Cape

LuminousNightCape

The signature cape of the Luminous Night season. Obtained as a premium Luminous Night Seasonal Adventure reward at Rank 11.
Amethyst Cape

AmethystCape

A cape lovingly adorned with sparkling amethyst. Obtained as a premium Luminous Night Seasonal Adventure reward at rank 25.
Gift Wrap

Year2Cape

On our second anniversary, we want to celebrate the gift that keeps on giving: You! Participated in the Second Anniversary event. Free to the participants of the Second Anniversary event.
Cow Crusader

An udderly awesome addition to any adventurer's collection. Obtained as a Fauna Faire Seasonal Adventure reward.
Turtle Shell

Turtleshell_Cape

With this cape on your back, you're ready for any attack! Obtained as a Fauna Faire Seasonal Adventure reward.
Fauna Faire

FaunaFaire_Cape

The signature cape of the Fauna Faire. Obtained as a Fauna Faire Seasonal Adventure reward.
Ominous Cape

SoulCape

Despite its floaty appearance, this cape feels heavy to wear. You're not even sure where it came from or how you got it... Participated in the Spookiest Fall event. The cape is first available from Oct 26, 2022 to Nov 9, 2022. Obtained during the Spookiest Fall Seasonal Trials by completing 6 of the seasonal trials.

This cape is the mark of blacksmiths and soldiers. Not obtainable in the game. In the game files, the hammer cape is referred to internally as the HammerCape.
Iron Golem Cape

IronGolemCape

The Iron Golem Cape, made to honor the mighty protectors of Villagers, now belongs to you. Not obtainable in the game. Old Description:

This was cape made in memory of the many sacrifices of Iron Golems.

  • It resembles the cape given out at MINECON 2015.
  • In the game files, the iron golem cape is referred to internally as the IronGolemCape and the GolemCape.
Mystery Cape

MysteryCape

While no one can decipher its cryptic message, the Mystery Cape seems made for you. Not obtainable in the game. The symbols on the cape are Illageralt numbers, which translate to 526.
Old Description:

A strange cape.

  • It resembles the sinister blue cape but is purple instead of blue and has rune symbols on the back.
  • In the game files, the mystery cape is referred to internally as the MysteryCape.

Issues[edit | edit source]

Issues for Minecraft Dungeons relating to "Cape" are no longer maintained on the bug tracker since September 28, 2023. However, issues reported before then can still be viewed there.
