Celebrating one year of the new Minecraft Wiki!

It doesn't quite feel like it, but can you believe that it's already been a year since we moved to our new website? Time to look back at the past year of wiki work and what's been happening at your independent Minecraft Wiki!
Editorship and activity[edit source]
The last year on the wiki showed a huge revival in editorship and activity. We now have more active users and more edits than we had on Fandom the last years, and is now back to the levels of activity that it was while still on Gamepedia, with most days seeing at least 400 edits to the wiki.
Most exciting for the wiki community and all our readers was the past Tricky Trials update, with lots of people wanting to learn about the new things. This shows also in the most popular pages on our wiki, with Java Edition 1.21 topping that list by a wide margin. We're hard at work keeping the wiki up to date with all new things happening inside and outside of the game.
-
Daily edits, averaged by month, from January 2023 (when we were still on Fandom) until now. The wiki is much more active now!
-
Total view count on the wiki per day. We have over 250 million views in total so far! You can also see clearly when Tricky Trials released.

Most popular pages on the wiki during the past year. Many of our most popular pages cover topics from the Tricky Trials update.
Search engines[edit source]
Most readers find our wiki articles by using their favorite search engine, and that makes them the most important factor for having our wiki beat Fandom's. We have made lots of good progress so far: most of our articles about new features like the trial chambers solidly stay on top of the search results page! Though that's not particularly surprising, given that barely anyone still edits the old wiki, except for a few Fandom volunteers who are tirelessly keeping spam and vandalism at bay.
However, it's not an easy battle. Fandom is a massive website and seen quite favorably by search engines for that reason. Even if a new article on Fandom is objectively worse, it can easily land back on top of the search results. As for articles that have been around a while, many Fandom articles are still on top, but we're often close behind.
-
The Fandom wiki continues to cover the new features, although...
-
...when we skip the advertising at the top, there often isn't much there.

In comparison, this is what the same article on our wiki looks like!
Here's how you can help![edit source]
Want to help us succeed? It's quite easy! Here's what you can do:
- Install the Indie Wiki Buddy browser extension! It automatically redirects you to the new wiki. We've been working together with the developer to make it the best it can be!
- Spread the word! If you see someone still stuck using the old wiki, let them know there's a better one around!
- If you have any suggestions, we're always open to hearing them! Just contact us via any of our social media, or our MCW:Discord. Of course you can also directly contact us here on the wiki itself, by clicking the "Talk" button in the top left—or even become an editor yourself and fix issues directly by just clicking "edit". You don't even need an account for that!
New tools[edit source]
With our new wiki, we now have the option to do some pretty fancy stuff on the wiki that just wasn't possible on Fandom. For example, did you know that we have a banner pattern designer on the wiki? You can see a full list of these interactive tools at Calculators, and we've included a selection below. We're still working on improving them and are looking for new ideas, so if you have any suggestions, let the Interactive tools and calculators project know on their talk page or by joining our Discord!
-
I tried to create a banner that resembles the Minecraft Wiki logo, but didn't quite succeed. Can you do better?
-
Did you just get a new mace from the trial chambers and want to try it out? Check out our mace damage calculator if you want to know how much damage it does!
-
Ever wanted to have a beacon beam in your favorite color? Now the wiki can tell you which colors of glass blocks you need to get it!
We're of course always looking to improve the wiki in other ways too. If you want to learn more about what we've done so far this year, why not check out our last wiki recap from July? It contains all the technical details and changes done on the wiki.
One particular highlight is also the release of our wiki mod Hey Wiki. If you want to open the wiki from inside the game, give it a try!
And of course, the Minecraft Wiki is not only available in English! Since last year, we have additionally moved no less than eleven language wikis over to our new website as well. Check them out if you're interested!
Thank you for sticking with us! We hope the wiki can help you even better over the next year!
