Minecraft Live (formerly MINECON Earth and MINECON Live, sometimes stylized as Minecraft LIVE) is a semiannual livestreamed event that features news about Minecraft updates and other aspects of the franchise. The official Minecraft Live web page is available at minecraft.net/live. Prior to 2024, the event took place annually.

  • Revealed gameplay content for the 1.20 update (later named Trails & Tales.), featuring new bamboo set, hanging signs, chiseled bookselves and the camels.
  • Revealed first hands-on and gameplay of the new spinoff game - Minecraft Legends.
  • Revealed Minecraft Dungeons: Season 3 - Fauna Faire.
  • Revealed the 2022 Mob Vote winner - the Sniffer, which will later be added with the Trails & Tales update.

Format

MINECON Earth / MINECON Live

  • Initially organized as live events featuring guest appearances, interactive audience participation, diverse panels, and mini-games.  
  • Locations varied, with the events held in different parts of the world.  
  • Livestreams often ran for about 1-3 hours.

2017–2018

  • MINECON was broadcast live globally for the first time with MINECON Earth, allowing people from around the world to tune in.
2019

Minecraft Live

2020–2021
  • MINECON Live was renamed as Minecraft Live and continues to be used today.
  • Initially planned as a live event running alongside Minecraft Festival, but delayed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  
  • Livestreams often ran for about 1-2 hours and still performed live.
  • Content included previews of new updates, behind-the-scenes insights, Q&A sessions, and news from the Minecraft franchise.

2022

  • Updates were shared incrementally to address past mistakes, offering a glimpse into the progress rather than complete plans upfront.

2023

  • Transitioned from a performed live to a pre-recorded format, but still pretend to be performed live.
  • Livestreams became more briefly, focusing primarily on franchise updates and announcements.

2024

  • Livestreams often ran for about 1 hour or less and have now transitioned to a fully pre-recorded format.
  • Lydia Winters made her final appearance as host before departing from Mojang Studios in October 2024.
  • Community votes were cancelled and no longer part of Minecraft Live, leading to the lack of community interaction.

2025

  • There is no designated host for the main show. The Deep Dig is hosted by Vu Bui.
  • Evolved into a biannual event, occurring sometimes in spring and winter.

From 2017 to 2023, Minecraft Live usually featured a community vote, which would let the community decide about which biome or mob should be added to the game.
