Jens is a fictionalized avatar of Jens Bergensten, appearing in various promotions for Minecraft Legends as a commander and strategist.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Jens closely resembles his real world equivalent, with a distinctive red beard, ponytail, and glasses. Due to the differing art style of the game, Jens is rendered with slightly more detail but more "chibi" proportions from other personas. As a result, he has visible eyebrows, minuscule hands, and subtler shading. His clothes consist of a gray striped hoodie and dark indigo pants.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Jens is a very thoughtful and kind person, but also experienced, with a long history defending the Overworld. He can be willing to fight and serve at a moment's notice, as well as traveling long distances solely to repay favors to people he considers friends. When told to flee a battle before it began, he was confident enough to rush in and be a hero instead. Later, he also expressed empathy, saying everyone (including phantoms) deserve redemption. However, he is also a realist, recognizing the odds of overcoming a situation with great humility, such as dealing with a military conflict without reinforcements.

Powers and abilities[edit | edit source]

In the animated segment featured at Minecraft Live 2022, Jens is shown to be able to generate portals, entering the Overworld from Mojang Studios headquarters in Stockholm. This is expanded on in the Minecraft Legends Live Event, where he refers to it as "dev powers" and uses it to teleport players. In turn, he is capable of freezing entities in place, which he uses to force people to attend his press conferences. He is also shown to possess quick reflexes and stamina, possessing a potential form of superspeed. Throughout the video, he is presented as very intelligent and experienced, particularly with complex strategies and battle maneuvers. At the very end, he breaks the fourth wall, winking at the audience. Combined with him emerging from the real world and actively discussing the franchise in the Minecraft Legends Live Event, this establishes that Jens is aware of his status as a nonfictional character.

Much like his real life self, Jens is multilingual, speaking both English and Swedish.

Biography[edit | edit source]

At an unknown time, Jens met the Hosts and formed an alliance with them. One day, Jens traveled from Stockholm, Sweden to the Well of Fate, in order to check in with Foresight and exchange notes. Considering them a long time friend, he decides to "return the favor," conveniently asking upon the arrival of the piglins. Sensing the growing tensions, the two flocked through another portal to meet up with Action.

They recoup with Action in a badlands, calling out their name several times. They discover them tending to an ambush of regal tigers, but quickly agree that they're not enough to defeat the hordes. As the stakes raise, the three evacuate to a forest, where they meet up with Knowledge and assess the situation. Looking to Knowledge for wisdom, they simply say to retreat with their troops. His plan is to run up into a piglin outpost, greet the piglins, and then open a portal to his allies once they retaliate.

After that conflict presumably ended in his favor, Jens went on to found an amusement park dedicated to Minecraft Legends.[1] Although proud of the construction, he remained cautious of piglins invading the grounds. As he hosted a presentation and explained the plot of the game, his worst fears came true, as not only do the piglins engage an attack on the area, but they hate his presentation.
