Usable items

A ghastling is a passive mob revealed at Minecraft LIVE – March 2025 that is planned to be added to the game with the Summer Drop 2025 in June 2025.[1] A ghastling naturally turns into a happy ghast; feeding them snowballs speeds up this process.

Spawning

A ghastling spawns when a dried ghast is placed in water for 20 minutes.[2]

Ghastlings cannot spawn naturally.

Behavior

Ghastlings roam close to players or other mobs until they get bored.

Specifically after being hydrated they will detect the player closest to it and "imprint" on the player, specifically following that player and occasionally taking breaks to randomly investigate their surroundings. This is essentially the way to "tame" a ghastling.

A ghastling eventually turns into a happy ghast, where it becomes ridable with a harness. This process can be sped up with snowballs.
