Patch 15 is a version of Wii U Edition released on December 22, 2016.[1] This version is equivalent to Java Edition 1.10. It is also known as the Holiday Update.[2] [edit]
Additions[edit source]
General[edit source]
- Added new tutorial world.
- Added Fallout Mash-up pack trial.
- Added Developer Alex and Developer Steve skins to the default skin pack.
- Added a camera animation when the Tumble mini game starts.
- Added Levitation, Luck, Bad Luck and Glowing effects.
- Falling dust particles have been added, which appear underneath gravity-affected blocks that are generated or placed suspended in midair.

Chorus flower, chorus plant, dragon head, end rod, purpur block, purpur pillar, purpur stairs, purpur slab.

Chorus fruit, popped chorus fruit, dragon's breath, elytra, end crystal, lingering potion, water splash potion and lingering potion, potion of luck, tipped arrow, boats made from spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, and dark oak wood.

Changes[edit source]
Blocks[edit source]
- Effect duration depends on pyramid levels, 9 seconds plus 2 seconds per level (formerly a constant 9 seconds).
- Now require blaze powder to use.
- Added sound when the brewing finishes.
- Now have sounds for placing and make different sounds when opening and closing.
- Are now placed facing left/right depending on which half of the block the player clicks on, unless neighboring doors cause them to place a certain way.
- Now have unique sounds for opening and closing.
- Hitbox height changed to 0.75 (was 0.0625).
- Now play a sound when enchanting an item
- Updated opening and closing sounds.
- Glass panes without any connecting blocks are now 2×2 pixels in footprint.
- This is compared to the big cross configuration that was default.
- Falling onto a hay bale inflicts 20% of normal fall damage.
- Iron bars without any connecting blocks are now 2×2 pixels in footprint.
- Collision box and hitbox were raised from 1⁄4 of a pixel to 1 pixel in height and the width has been changed to be inset from three edges of the block by 1 pixel (1⁄16 of a block).
- Added sound when placed.
- All sloped rail types' hitbox heights are increased from 10 pixels of block to a full block.
- Hitbox for redstone is now smaller based on the connections, similarly to fences.
- Updated opening and closing sounds.
- No longer require supporting blocks.
- May be climbed like a ladder if placed directly above one and on the same side of the block.
Wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot, and nether warts
- Now change their hitbox as the plant grows.

- Changed equipping sounds.
- Now show armor points in tooltips.
- Now show an animation for drawing back an arrow in the hotbar.
- Version exclusive: Can now also be drawn by using any type of arrow.
- Now have sounds.
- Now give Absorption IV instead of I.
- Can now pull items towards the player.
- Can now be used to collect dragon's breath.
- Added sound when filling it with water and dragon's breath.
- Added new sounds.

Strength changed from 130% bonus damage to 3HP, i.e. an absolute bonus rather than a relative one.

Weakness changed from 0.5 (HP × 1⁄4) reduction to damage to 4HP.

Regeneration had their durations reduced from 2:00 to 1:30.

Mobs[edit source]
All mobs
- Have a 5% chance to spawn left-handed.
- Mobs able to hold items hold them according to their dominant hand.
- Have a punch animation.
- Drop the block they were holding when killed.
- Now spawn with 100% knockback resistance.
- Skeletons can now walk, strafe and shoot at the same time.
- They walk away from players that are too close and toward players that are too far.
- They also sprint toward the player when very far away.
- They walk away from players that are too close and toward players that are too far.
- Clerics now sell ender pearls instead of eyes of ender.
- Now have different skins for different professions.
Non-mob entities[edit source]
- Boats are now controlled differently and can have multiple passengers.
- Projectiles such as snowballs, eggs, ender pearls, splash potions, bottles o' enchanting, and arrows now take the thrower's motion into account when fired.
World generation[edit source]
- The End has changed when generating a new world and can also be updated for old worlds. To get the new End in an old world, select "Reset The End" in the "More Options" menu when loading a world.
- After killing the ender dragon in the new End, an end gateway will spawn nearby. Throwing an ender pearl into this will teleport the player to a new area in the End with an end city and end ship.
- The central island has been downscaled from 288x288 to 192x192 blocks.
- The end platform has been moved from X=100, Y=49, Z=0 to X=60, Y=49, Z=60, due to the downscaling of the End central island.
- Within the end city and the end ship, the player can find shulkers, elytra, and a dragon head.
- Villages now generate naturally in Taiga biomes.
General[edit source]
- Updated crafting interface to allow crafting firework stars and fireworks.
- Reordered potion effects in the Brewing tab in the Creative inventory to be more like Java Edition.
- Removed all five types of extended-enhanced potion variants for five potion effects from the Creative inventory.
- Removed the strength indicator from the Brewing tab in the Creative inventory.
- Golden apples, enchanted golden apples and chorus fruits can now be eaten in creative mode.
- Traveling through nether portals and end portals now plays a sound after arriving in the other dimension.
- Sneaking now lowers the player's hitbox to 1.65 blocks.
- The animation for picking up items or shot arrows now plays at a random speed, sometimes causing it to play slower than before.
- Removed end portal frames from the custom superflat block selection menu.
- Knockback no longer changes the Y-axis speed of flying and falling mobs.
- Holding down the attack key in survival or adventure mode now attacks slower while punching into the air (every half second).
- Added sound when critical hitting a player or mob.
- Attacking a player of mob now shows black heart particles, indicating the amount of damage that was dealt.
- Added sounds for the Thorns enchantment.
- No longer shows in 3rd person view.
- Are now displayed on the player's death screen as well as in the chat.
