Planned versions

This page is about planned versions of all editions of Minecraft. These updates either have major sources to their existence or have received development versions.

Java Edition

1.21.4

1.21.4, The Garden Awakens, is an upcoming update to Java Edition set to release on December 3rd, 2024, which adds creaking and pale garden.

Combat changes

The combat system is planned to be reworked in a future update, keeping the cooldown but allowing the player to attack only when fully charged. These changes are developed in parallel to other features and make it into the game "when they're good enough". The update in which they are included is also not a combat-themed update. The latest combat test, Combat Test 8c, was released in August 2020.
