This page is about planned versions of all editions of Minecraft. These updates either have major sources to their existence or have received development versions.

Only editions with known planned updates are listed here; if no known planned updates exist, the edition is left out.

Java Edition

Combat changes

The combat system is planned to be reworked in a future update, keeping the cooldown but allowing the player to attack only when fully charged. These changes are developed in parallel to other features and make it into the game "when they're good enough". The update in which they are included is also not a combat-themed update.^[1] The latest combat test, Combat Test 8c, was released in August 2020.

Summer Drop 2025

An upcoming Java Edition version with no confirmed version number is set to release in June 2025, containing features of the Summer Drop 2025.

Bedrock Edition

1.21.80

1.21.80 is an upcoming minor update to Bedrock Edition set to release prior to the Summer Drop 2025, containing early experimental content for that drop.

Summer Drop 2025

An upcoming version of Bedrock Edition with no confirmed version number is set to release in June 2025, containing features of the Summer Drop 2025.
