A nautilus shell is an item that is used for crafting conduits.

Obtaining[edit | edit source]

Mob loot[edit | edit source]

Drowned have a 3%‌[JE only] or 8%‌[BE only] chance to spawn with a nautilus shell in their off-hand, and they always drop that nautilus shell upon death.

Fishing[edit | edit source]

Nautilus shells are obtainable through fishing, with a 0.8% chance per attempt. See fishing for more details.

Trading[edit | edit source]

Wandering traders may sell a nautilus shell for 5 emeralds each. This trade becomes locked after 5 are bought.

Usage[edit | edit source]

In Bedrock Edition, a nautilus shell is one of the few items that can be held in the off-hand.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Nautiluses are animals that occupy deep oceans in the real world. However, they are absent in Minecraft and there are currently no plans to add nautilus mobs into the game.
  • Because Bedrock Edition allows for Nautilus shells to be held in the off-hand (since drowned hold them), they are the only item in that version that can be put in the off-hand slot without having a specific function.
