Minecraft Wiki:Policies and guidelines
Policies and guidelines are developed by the community to describe the best practices of editing and behavior of all users. Policies and guideline changes are discussed on the Wiki forum.
Policies[edit source]
Policies are widely accepted among editors and describe standards all users should normally follow. All policy pages can be found at Category:Policies.
Community[edit source]
- Wiki rules – A summary of core rules of the Minecraft Wiki
- Use common sense – If a rule prevents you from improving or maintaining the wiki, use common sense and ignore it.
Content[edit source]
- Notability – Criteria for what content is covered by the wiki.
- Video policy – when and how a video can be included in an article.
- Generative AI policy – Don't edit using AI.
User[edit source]
- Assume good faith – Unless there is conclusive evidence to the contrary, always assume that an editor's actions were an attempt to improve the wiki.
Guidelines[edit source]
Guidelines are sets of best practices supported by consensus. Editors should attempt to follow guidelines, though they are best treated with common sense, and occasional exceptions may apply. Guidelines can be found in Category:Policies.
- Style guide – The style guides purpose is to make the Minecraft Wiki easy to read by establishing a certain format for content pages. One way is often as good as another, but if everyone does things the same way, the articles will be easier to read and use, along with being easier to write and edit.
- Talk page guidelines – Guide for how to use talk pages.
Essays[edit source]
Essays are the opinion or advice of an editor or group of editors. They are not necessarily supported by widespread consensus. Essays are able to be edited by anyone, and should be moved to user space if they overtly contradict consensus. All essay pages can be found at Category:Essays.
- Be bold – If you see that something needs to be fixed or improved on this wiki... be bold and make the changes.
- Is not about winning - Discussions are not "won"
