Userboxes requires splitting
Is it ok if the userboxes are split into 3 categories?
Category A: About Minecraft
Category B: About the Minecraft Wiki

- The boxes are already split into categories on MCW:UBX, so it's not required that I do anything. In the future, I might split them, but not in the present. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:21, 1 September 2024 (UTC)

Editing
Try putting your editing story in a history table. 2001:4456:C7F:EF00:9061:DDFC:B88A:4496 09:49, 10 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hmm... I don't know... I'm fine with it as it is, but it's a good idea. Though, I never really enjoyed history sections too much. At least, when I'm ripping them apart. Maybe. Yeah, I'll see if I can do that. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 13:48, 10 September 2024 (UTC)
Unnecessary edits
It is unnecessary to remove "File:" from < gallery >. If an editor uses visualeditor, visualeditor will re-add "File:" back to the < gallery > tags automatically without intent. Therefore it is unnecessary and pointless to remove the tags, as it would be a waste of time once someone tries to use visualeditor to edit galleries. Delvin4519 (talk) 14:41, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
- I'm still fine with doing it, really. But it's still effective until someone uses the visual editor. Maybe the visual editor needs to be modified... -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:43, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

- Ultimately it doesn't matter, it just affects the source code and high byte count seldomly is something to worry about. IMO it's pointless since any visual edit of the gallery will add the namespace back. | violine1101 (talk) 15:02, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

I personally don't think you should get hung up on whether or not you consider yourself trustworthy enough to nominate people for whatever roles you think they should get. At the end of day, your proposal(s) will be supported if people agree with them, and it really doesn't matter who you are.
Harristic's admin nomination thread was created by StizzurpXDD, who had only started editing the wiki a few days prior. He also admitted on Discord that his original proposal was AI-generated, and he rewrote it shortly afterwards. That proposal received unanimous support regardless.
You have over 3,000 edits and an admin trusted you enough to give you autopatrol. I don't think anyone's gonna have a problem with you nominating Harristic or MarkusRost for the bureaucrat position – FireX • talk @ 03:38, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- Good point. I guess I'd only be worried about the fact that I'm actually quite the (semi-)random editor, seeing as how I didn't actually edit the mainspace that often. Ah well, I still discuss things with other editors. Thank you for the word of encouragement :) -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:01, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

Backslash
The most useless symbol ever: \
I very much disagree. Backslashes are very useful, as they are the character used to describe "the next character is literal" in many programming languages.
When you have a piece of text that you want to insert into your code so it can be processed, you usually surround it in "quotes"
to distinguish it from code. But what if you tried to add quotes inside the text, like quo"tes
? Well, "quo"tes"
would make the middle quote be interpreted as the end of the text (since quo
here is surrounded by quotes), and the program would not work. So, we add a \
before the "
, like "quo\"tes"
. This means that the middle quote is literal, and should be considered part of the text. It's quite a nice design, I think.
This comment is very useless but you said you like notifications.
PS. If you are wondering how to include a literal backslash... You do that by preceding it with another backslash. quo\tes
would be written as "quo\\tes"
. Grzesiek11 (talk) 17:46, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
- While I agree that it has uses... Or doesn't have any usage in regular text compared to the regular slash. I did not mean that it was useless, but hey, I've never really used it that much. That's all I'm saying. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 23:13, 7 November 2024 (UTC)

- Correct, the backslash is used in coding, it can be very useful for example... In Python: to put something in quotes and display the quotes you heve to do this: print("\"Something Random\"") backslashes are used to "format" characters or in python (and most languages) if you pair it an "n" in creates a new line like... print("Something \nRandom") would display Something Random but each word in a different line SimplMC (talk) 10:37, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
Note Both of your examples could be changed to not include backslash:
print('"Something Random"')
- if you use single quotes, you don't need to escape double quotesprint("""Something
Random""")
- if you surround the string with three quotes you can include newlines inside a string without needing to use \.Miner(

- Conclusion: the backlash is useless in normal text, but occasionally useful in coding. You see, the most coding experience I have is with the Wiki, and practically nothing else. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:16, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

The most annoying Minecraft Fandom Wiki user
Savounited1932 was very annoying, he is one of our most hated users on Fandom, and that is because he just kept reverting edits that were not unconstructive, like most of his contributions are all edit reverts and the only time you should revert edits is if you are violating the Wiki's rules and are not improving articles. GOD, he was so annoying. Let me give you an example for what I mean. In the Fandom Tuff page, we fixed a plural redirect ([[Amethyst geodes]]
to [[Amethyst geode]]s
). In Wikitext it is (Amethyst geodes instead of Amethyst geodes, click on the two different links to show what I mean). Savounited1932 then reverted the edit with a text: It's not broken anymore. We then reverted his edit with a text: The other link to the Geode page was not a redirect. He then reverted the edit again by rollbacking and not undoing. This really angered us with a passion, because writing plural redirects is something that should be avoided in the Minecraft Wiki, like in the other discussion to BDJP007301, but it made us spawn a new phrase about him: “Savounited1932 is the Fandom user that thinks his correct number of edit reverts to each other user is over 9,000.” Because all of the same information is copied from Fandom to a new location, we had to do all of the same edits all over again, like fixing the geode redirect, but in the new Minecraft Wiki, nobody reverted the edit here, because Savounited1932 is not in the new Wiki. If he moves from Fandom to the new location, I would definitely leave this Wiki no matter what. I hope you understand of how we felt about retiring from Fandom. User6789 (talk • contributions) 04:30, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- I see. However, our community here, on the new Wiki, are able to stop unconstructive edits by telling other users about how their edits are unconstructive. Don't worry, if this user comes to the new Wiki, we would be able to stop them from making unconstructive edits. If he has good faith, he is able to make good edits. However, this comment can be taken as a personal attack on another user, which is not allowed. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:29, 10 November 2024 (UTC)

is highlighted red; or any other tag; that's a new lint error that needs fixing). Delvin4519 (talk) 02:11, 11 November 2024 (UTC)- Thanks, but where is the syntax highlighting? Does it detect all lint errors? -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 02:18, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

Retiring from the Wiki
Sorry if I sound very upset, but I actually want to stop editing this Wiki, and possibly get blocked indefinitely. Here is why: there are too many poorly-written pages, way too many plural redirects, such as "Cows" to "Cow" as an example, people not writing various versions of the game and other Minecraft games not in italic. All of this eats up our editing time, too much that we just want to retire, I am just in this state that I am confirming that this is a very lack-lustered Wiki, because of what we said earlier in the topic, out of every Wiki on the Internet, I am considering this one to be a very poorly-written Wiki. I just feel very teary after looking at a lot of articles and possibly screaming my head off at very minor errors. Can I please just retire from this Wiki and possibly get blocked indefinitely? Thank you very much, I just really want to stop editing here. User6789 (talk • contributions) 13:12, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Editors have certain rights, including that if leaving indefinitely. If you want to take a break from the Wiki, go on, no one can or will stop you. Just... - All right, after me looking at more poorly-written articles (LIKE PLURAL REDIRECTS), I actually want to retire from this Wiki, I do not want to look at this Wiki no longer, nor get information from it, it is so poorly-written and lack-luster, pretty much every article has a plural redirect or a capitalized redirect, users do not know how to write the information how they should, like the redirects and them not putting Minecraft editions in italic. I am such in a bad mood now, that I just want to completely retire, also, my laptop is now over 5 years old and it has a terrible battery life, so there is no point continuing to edit here as the laptop might break completely in a few months or so. I just really want to stop here. User6789 (talk • contributions) 10:31, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Then do so! If you have such strong opinions about it, just stop editing. I have nothing more to say about it. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:11, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

- Okay, whatever, fine, I won't violate your natural rights. Just go when you feel like it. Just know, if you ever come back, multiple temporary retirements can be seen as unnecessary drama. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:11, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- One thing, @User6789: editing a Wiki, actively participating in this endless project, always has included, includes, and always will include the acceptance of imperfection; that's what a Wiki is about! If you don't enjoy striving to improve the imperfectable, then I don't see why you even came here in the first place. The joy of a Wiki comes from contributing to a project without end, of the joy of accepting imperfections and doing what you can. If you don't want that, fine. But what you can do is set up a project about fixing plural and capital redirects. That would be contribution without any perseverance required. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 02:11, 21 November 2024 (UTC)

- I joined here from Fandom back in May of 2024 and have not left since. The reason why we were editing Fandom before I think March of this year is because we did not know that the Minecraft Wiki fork even happened, several users in the Fandom do not know that we have moved to this website and them continuing to edit Fandom and add the new features but not all of the information about a block or a generated structure as an example, like the trial chambers. Note that when we moved from Fandom to here, we did not migrate our account. We just created a new one and copied all of the Fandom edits to here, as well as what I would edit next. And yes, I should be the one fixing plural redirects and mis-capitalized redirects, because I do not think anybody else will fix them, and to improve this Minecraft Wiki, do note that we joined the Wiki because it was to improve lack-luster and to have a fun time editing, though it might be getting out of hand. Also note that the main reason why we created an account here was because of annoying users in Fandom, and them reverting edits that were not breaking the Wiki's rules, like fixing the plural redirects and overall improving articles. The only time a user should revert edits is if somebody else is vandalizing or breaking the rules of a Wiki, and them not improving an article. Also note that English is our first language and we never vandalize or insert information that is false. User6789 (talk • contributions) 08:10, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- So... you're saying most of the reason you want to quit is because of annoying users on Fandom? Well, I do say, we have an administrative crew of 11 here, and we don't let vandals and people like that persist here. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 13:56, 21 November 2024 (UTC)

Leaving the Wiki
So, after a few more edits, we have actually decided to quit this Wiki, I no longer want to edit here no longer, and that is because many people do not know how to format edition names in italic and people do not know that the formatting of "MINECON" is "MINECON", they just format it as "MineCon" instead, just look at my most recent edit on Woodland Mansion and the edit summary we used. This is such a lack-lustered Wiki, I just want to quit this Wiki for good. Note that we were supposed to quit at 600 edits, we just did an extra 40 for some reason. If Savounited1932 comes to this semi-new Wiki, we would definitely quit this Wiki no matter what, because in the Fandom, he just loved reverting edits that were not breaking the rules or vandalizing. I hope you understand how we feel quitting the Wiki, I just want to stop editing here and move on with our life... User6789 (talk • contributions) 04:13, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- I have already discussed with you about this. This Wiki is obviously not the right place for you. You have every right to leave and never come back. If this annoying user came to this Wiki, he would be blocked. If you want to leave this Wiki, please, just leave to make yourself happy. Just go if you have such strong opinions about this. To put it shortly, just leave it you want to so much; you have the right to. This Wiki is clearly not the right place for you, and I don't see why you're still here. Leave and be free. I will not keep you in this Wiki, I will show you that you are free. You are free to leave the Wiki, so leave this "lack-luster" Wiki. I have tried to convince you that you don't need to leave, but you have persisted with wanting to leave. I do not want a user to be editing the Wiki if they hate it so. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:54, 27 November 2024 (UTC)

Why do you do that? --88.207.202.10 17:13, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

- You see, I added it to my signature as kind of a border between the comment and the rest of my signature. Some people would do "--", and I saw one person do "~". So I decided to make it unique :) -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 17:24, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
