I started playing Minecraft shortly before the release of Village and Pillage.

GoldJackal has been playing Minecraft since 2019.

My views on the wiki's move[edit | edit source]

I am a strong supporter of the Minecraft Wiki's move away from Fandom. I find it outrageous that Fandom refuses to take the old wiki down (or at the very least put a banner on the main page linking to this wiki) and continues to exploit their dominant position in Google search results. Even some articles on Fandom about more recent features (such as: Mace, Creaking, Pale Garden) can easily land on top of search results, taking people to that advertisement hell rather than this wiki. Some ignorant YouTubers continue to promote the old wiki in their videos.

It appears to me that most remaining editors on the old wiki are well-aware of this wiki's existence, but stubbornly refuse to move, instead working hard to keep Fandom at the top of search results. I have no idea why anyone would want to do that, considering that Fandom is a disgusting, money-hungry corporation that has done some truly awful things (like what they've done to LyricWiki).

The old wiki recently introduced a draft system for new articles as a desperate attempt to crush us (they have openly declared that this is the goal of the new system), but thankfully it is backfiring. Most new features from Spring to Life don't have articles on Fandom and our wiki is on top of search results. The addition of new farm animal variants helped get our articles on pigs and cows above Fandom's. When searching for "minecraft pig variants" (same with cow/chicken), our wiki lands in first place.
