* Registered Accounts: As of September 2023, Minecraft: China Edition has 700 million registered accounts. This massive player base highlights its popularity in mainland China.
Editions
China Edition includes multiple different editions (which could be called "variants" or "subeditions"). The Mobile Edition variant is available as a variant of BE, and the Desktop Edition has both BE and JE variants.

The Mobile Edition mainly runs on mobile devices and offers a specific version of BE.

* Developers: The game is developed by Mojang Studios, Xbox Game Studios, and NetEase. The collaboration ensures that the game is well-suited for the Chinese market.

* Localization: The game is fully localized, including language support and cultural adjustments to fit the preferences and regulations of the Chinese audience.

It offers a launcher to enter the game, which hides the main menu of the vanilla game and directly opens the world. In addition to launching the game, the Mobile Edition also features functions such as group social, community forum, homeland, and resource center.

3. Editions and Parity
The launcher has a built-in browser to display announcements and news webpages of China Edition, some of which detect the environment to make the content only visible in game. The launcher also has a network environment detection feature similar to vanilla BE, which prevents players from logging in when using Network Agent at OS level. The launcher also has a dark mode that adapts to night theme and can switch with the system time.

* Java and Bedrock Editions: China Edition includes both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition variants. These versions have similar parity issues and differences as their non-China counterparts, meaning players can expect a consistent experience with the global versions.
; Platform

4. Unique Features
The China Edition of the mobile game supports the following platforms: Android, iOS/iPadOS/macOS.

* Cloud Storage: The Java Edition in China Edition offers cloud storage, allowing players to save their progress and access it from different devices.
Android platform games are divided into official servers and channel servers. The official server is mainly downloaded from the China Edition of the official website, while the channel server is mainly downloaded from various app stores or game platforms. Only Android official games can receive invitation for the trial version.
* Friends System: There is a built-in friend's system with live text chat support, making it easier for players to connect and communicate with each other.
* Built-in Browser: The game includes a built-in browser for announcements and updates, keeping players informed about the latest news and events.

5. Censorship
iOS/iPadOS/macOS platform games can be downloaded from the App Store and run on macOS as a "verified iPad designed application" compatible.

* In-Game Text: In-game text content, including chat, books, and signs, is heavily censored to comply with Chinese regulations. This ensures that the game adheres to local laws and standards.
The macOS platform game always maintains a 3:4 vertical screen operation, even within the game. Unlike iOS/iPadOS, the macOS platform can view complete game files and local cache directories.

6. Monetization and Accessibility
Main system requirements:

* Free to Play: Unlike other versions of Minecraft, the China Edition is free to download and play. This accessibility has contributed to its large player base.
{| class="wikitable"
* In-Game Purchases: The game includes various in-game purchases, such as skins, textures, and other cosmetic items, which help monetize the free-to-play model.

; Development cycle

Since the release of China Edition, the mobile game version has undergone a major update every 6 months, usually in early January and late June. The Bedrock Edition version is usually updated to the next stable version with significant changes, with an average annual update of the main version number and the secondary version number. During September and November, there are two main updates: anniversary celebration and gratitude season. In April, there is a fixed secondary update without a specific theme, and a weekly hot update. The main update requires downloading a new version launcher. The Android official server is released at 0:00 on the day of the update, and the Android channel server and iOS/iPadOS/macOS are released at 10:00. The update is usually on the first or fourth Friday of the month. Within 15 days prior to the update, the Android official server invites players to download the trial version of the mobile game to test the stability of the new version. The trial version of the mobile game can only play multiplayer games with players who are also using the trial version, but can use the new version of the game content, features, and components in advance, and can receive trial rewards within the game.

Clearing the cache on the main interface removes all accumulated hot update resource packages and cache files. After restarting, it automatically updates to the latest version.

China Edition updated the 2.0 mobile game version on January 21, 2022. The current version number format is<code>2.X.Y:ABCDEF</code>.

*X is the main version number, which is the total number of major updates, increasing by 5 times per year.

*Y is the minor version number, which is displayed as a hot updated resource version on the game side. The minor version number for the development version of the mobile game is fixed at 100.

*ABCDEF is the development ordinal number, and the larger the number, the newer the version. The iOS/iPadOS/macOS platform is usually equal to or 1-2 different from the Android platform. The development version uses this value to refer to the relationship between the relative game side.

Game content
Players can play the following bedrock based games in the mobile version. In addition to changes to some non game features of the bedrock version, the bedrock version used in the Chinese version has referenced [MCW: Translation Standardization | Translation Standardization] to modify the names of some content.

Single player game
Single player games are Minecraft games played locally, and world saves can be viewed through the device file management function. Players have full game access to the world.

In the game menu, players can directly create local games as online rooms. After creation, the room goes online in the online lobby and friends can be invited to join the game.

Multiplayer games
Multiplayer games are networked games.
;Network game
Online game is an officially certified BE custom server in China Edition mobile , with Apollo as the core, and the server host is located in NetEase's data center. The game content is provided and maintained by the developer, and the developer can list the mall products in the server. Such products must be purchased with the currency "diamonds".

The Mobile Edition of the online game includes survival, mini-games, theme RPGs, etc. You need to download the relevant resource packs when you enter the server for the first time, and local components cannot be used in the online game.

Players can receive a monthly gift package when they log in for the first time each month, including: 500 Emeralds, Huayuting (花雨庭)/EaseCation/Dream World (梦世界)/Cloud Sea (云之海) online game gift packages.

;Online Lobby
In the online lobby, players can join multiplayer rooms created by others or create their own.

The online room has a unique identification room number, usually a 4-6 digit number. Players can search and enter the room interface through the room number. The room owner can set the room password. Players must enter the correct password before joining the room. Players in the room can generate an instant QR code, and others can also directly enter the room interface by scanning it using the "Scan" function built into the launcher. The room owner can set a room player limit, with an optional range of 2-10 people. If the number of people exceeds the limit, others will not be able to enter.

;Online Gameplay
Online gameplay is a special online game whose room host is located in NetEase's data center. After the room owner creates a room, the platform will create a real-time server based on the selected online gameplay and broadcast it to other players including the room owner.

Online gameplay is a type of mashup package component mainly for multiplayer games, including independent maps, resource packs, etc. Most online gameplay components are free, "emeralds" and "diamonds" currencies can be used to purchase add-on items in the corresponding gameplay game. The game progress of online gameplay is tracked by the player account. There are 5 achievement trophies corresponding to 0%/30%/50%/80%/100% achievements, which can be displayed on the personal homepage; the room owner or the member authorized by the room owner has the right to save the real-time map to the cloud so that they can continue at any time. The upper limit of the cloud online gameplay archive is 200M, and a single archive is saved for 15 days when not in use.

;Local Connection
Local connection uses the host's device as the host and broadcasts the room to other players through China Edition platform/local router.

The host can choose an existing local map or create a new map as a shared archive. The map can be an original map, a quarter game, or an independent map/mix-up package component downloaded from the resource center, and the host can configure the components used in the room game, including functional gameplay components and material lighting components. Other players need to download all the resources configured by the host before joining the world to play the same game. Paid resource members can experience it without purchasing. Players can directly set the local game to a local online room or cancel the local connection and switch back to a single-player game in the in-game pause menu.

In local online games, the room owner has the highest authorities: they can set the room password, allow or deny PC players to enter, mute or kick out members, and grant members operator privileges. Any member in the room can report violations in the game, including inappropriate comments from other players and violations of the game room/room owner itself.

There are 8 room themes for local online: Survival, Creative, Adventure, Simulation, Action, Building, Confrontation and Leisure. The room owner can choose any two as room tags to assist potential members in searching. At the same time, the room owner can set a room slogan, which will be displayed on the room page. There are 15 preset slogans in total.

;Team Lobby
The entrance to the team lobby is located below the online lobby. In the team lobby, players can create or join a team. Unlike a room, a team has a separate launcher chat room, and the room owner can change the online gameplay or local online map of the current team at will. Players can join other players' teams by searching for their names.

==== An online game is a certified custom server for the Bedrock Edition in the China Edition mobile, with Apollo at its core, hosted in NetEase's data center. The room owner can set a team slogan, which will be displayed on the team page. There are 10 preset slogans in total.

The Mobile Edition includes survival, mini-games, themed RPGs, and more. Players must download the necessary resource packs upon first server entry, and local components are not usable in the online game.
Resource Center
The "resource center" is a gaming add-on distribution platform in the mobile edition, similar to the Marketplace. Free add-on can be purchased with one click, and paid add-on needs to be confirmed again in the pop-up dialog box before it can be purchased.

Players receive a monthly gift package upon their first login each month, which includes 500 Emeralds and gift packages from Huayuting, EaseCation, Dream World, and Cloud Sea.
Each component in the resource center has an independent page. Players can view detailed information such as introduction, download volume, and rating after entering. Players who purchase components can evaluate them. The system calculates the comprehensive rating of the components based on the weighted usage behavior of players such as game time. If players are not satisfied with the experience, they can apply for a refund. Players who meet the requirements can have the amount of money spent on the purchase returned.

In the online lobby, players can join or create multiplayer rooms.
Currency
The resource center uses "emeralds" and "diamonds" as currency, unrelated to the item in-game.

Each room has a unique identification number, typically 4-6 digits long. Players can find and enter rooms using this number. Room owners can set passwords that players must enter to join. An instant QR code can be generated for room entry, and there is a player limit per room, ranging from 2-10 players. Exceeding this limit prevents additional entries.
The "emerald" is a virtual currency that cannot be obtained by paying money. The emeralds obtained in a month would be deleted at the end of the month. Methods of obtaining emeralds include:

Online gameplay involves a special game hosted in NetEase's data center. When a room is created, a real-time server is established for the selected gameplay and shared with other players, including the room owner.
* Daily registration, monthly gifts;
* Finishing tasks of the current activity
* Other methodsInfo needed
"Diamonds" can be obtained by purchasing it with real-life currency.

Online gameplay also includes achievement trophies as part of its mashup package components.
Multiplayer games are networked games.

An online game is a certified custom server for the Bedrock Edition in the China Edition mobile, with Apollo at its core, hosted in NetEase's data center. The game's content is provided and maintained by the developer, who can also list products in the server's mall, purchasable with "diamonds" currency.

The Mobile Edition includes survival, mini-games, themed RPGs, and more. Players must download the necessary resource packs upon first server entry, and local components are not usable in the online game.

Players receive a monthly gift package upon their first login each month, which includes 500 Emeralds and gift packages from Huayuting, EaseCation, Dream World, and Cloud Sea.

In the online lobby, players can join or create multiplayer rooms.

Online gameplay involves a special game hosted in NetEase's data center. When a room is created, a real-time server is established for the selected gameplay and shared with other players, including the room owner.

Online gameplay also includes achievement trophies as part of its mashup package components.

The "Desktop Edition" is a Chinese Edition running on the PC platform, providing specific editions of Java Edition and Bedrock Edition games.

Platform
Windows launcher GUI.

The Desktop Edition can mainly run on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Windows 11 platforms, and the launcher comes with the required Java environment (64 bit JRE8 and JDK17). Similar to the official launcher of the international version, the Windows version cannot be installed or run on the Windows platform of ARM64. Some versions may experience exceptions on earlier versions of Windows, and the "ray tracing version" only runs normally on supported devices on Windows 10 and Windows 11 platforms.

Main system requirements:

PC
Operating system Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows 11
Graphics card GeForce GT240 or ATI Radeon HD 5550 or above
Central Processing Unit Main frequency 1.4GHz and above

Game content

The "Start Game" in the bottom left corner of the launcher is the starting point for the game. Players can play various games based on Java and Rock versions in the Windows version. The Java version used in the Chinese version has a small amount of text that is slightly different from Standardization of Translations. The content of the base rock version is basically the same as that of the mobile game, and it can be used for interactive gaming.

The "Start Game" section prioritizes displaying players' recent games, and new game content can also be searched and downloaded by category. The launcher skips the main menu and directly enter the game.

Single player game

The single player game section allows players to manage all local game saves across versions. By selecting save, players can view detailed information including version, game duration, installed components, and more. Single player game saves can be exported, and when creating a world, saves can be imported and a world with the same version can be created. When starting the Java version save, multiple components developed by NetEase are forced to be built-in. At the same time, you can choose to open the "Command Suspension Window" built-in component. After opening, a button is displayed in the upper left corner of the game, and you can use commonly used commands with just one click.

Players can choose the following game versions when creating a world:

 • Bedrock Edition: original version of Bedrock version synchronized with mobile games, based on Bedrock Edition 1.20.10 "ray tracing version"

Single player game saves can be uploaded to the cloud for cross device gaming, and players have 5 save slots and 1GB of storage space; Members have an additional 2 archive slots and 2GB of storage space. The archive slots of members are locked after the membership expires and cannot be uploaded or downloaded.

Multiplayer games

Network game

Online games are officially certified Java customized servers in the Chinese version of games, with Apollo as the core. The server host is located in NetEase's data center. The game content is provided and maintained by developers, who can list products in the server's online store. These products must be purchased using the launcher currency "Diamond". Players can choose not to display the in-game mall. The Java version of online games has the same range as single player games.

For the first time entering the server, you need to download a client other than the game version. For a single online game, players can create up to 3 character profiles, and any ban imposed due to game account violations also takes effect on all character profiles.

Online lobby

The online lobby of the Windows version is the same as that of the mobile version, both of which are real-time bedrock version gameplay servers. The online lobby of the Windows version is not compatible with the mobile version.

Local online

Local online allows players to create any single player game version of the game room, including Java, Rock, and Light Chase versions. With the homeowner's device as the host, any version of the room can be configured with components. When members enter, they download them on the startup interface, and the game can be played directly after it starts.

Rental server games

Rental server is a Java version of server hosting service, which has two types: pure rental service and custom rental service. Pure rental server is a fully original game server, with customizable components, plugins, and other additional content to provide higher server performance. The custom rental service channel is currently under maintenance and cannot be created.

 • Pure rental clothing specifications
 • 10 people: 1800 diamonds per month
 • 20 people: 3600 diamonds per month
 • 40 people: 5000 diamonds per month

The server owner has operator privileges and can also backup archives to restore previously saved archives at any time. Unlike the mobile version, the PC game rental service allows for downloading archives locally.

Component Center

Component Center page.

The Component Center is a game add-on content distribution platform within the Windows version launcher, similar to Market.

The configurable components of single player games in the Windows version are divided into two categories based on their impact on the game: functional and visual. Visual is further divided into two subcategories: material sic and light and shadow. The above components can be retrieved in the Component Center by version, price, theme, etc. Online games, online gameplay, and more can also be found and purchased in the component center. Slightly different from the international Java version skin, the 128/256-pixel skin component can also be used for Java games.

Component package

A component package is composed of several functional and visual components combined to achieve specific game effects, similar to an integration package. Component packages are mainly provided by the community, and any player can filter, edit, and submit their purchased components. Excellent component packages can be recommended by the community.

Other

Social communities

The Desktop Edition has the main social functions of the mobile version, and the communities of the two versions are interconnected. Fresh news is similar to the community fresh news function of the mobile game version, with dynamic content exchange. The game forum is also linked to the official forum, and players can use NetEase Pass to directly create forum accounts.
