A village is a structure that villagers live in within Minecraft Legends.

Generation[edit | edit source]

A village that has generated in a tundra.

Villages can generate in dry savanna, meadow, swamp, and tundra biomes.

Upon generation, villages "carve out" a circular area of the terrain to generate in. This circular area is completely flat and has bright green grass and small stone formations, even if it is located in a biome of a different appearance like a swamp. The village itself is located in the center of the circular area.

A large fountain acts as the center piece of all villages, it contains the village chest and is where all mobs that can spawn in villages aside from villagers spawn. From the fountain paths with a mossy cobblestone appearance spread out, some of which have archways decorating them. These paths lead to buildings that appear to be homes for villagers, they have largely open walls, furniture, have vegetation on their exterior, and come in three variants: small, medium, and large. All buildings within villages excluding the fountain primarily use a cream, white, light purple, and light blue color scheme.

Usage[edit | edit source]

Villages provide the player with warriors and resources via village chests. Firsts will also respawn in villages if they have been rebuilt and then have been destroyed or are not being lured by the player. Additionally, the player can fast travel to a village by interacting with its icon on the map as long as it is not occupied by piglins.

Village chest[edit | edit source]

Every village has one village chest that can be found at its fountain which can be opened to gain resources.

Village chests produce basic resources, such as wood, stone, and lapis. They also produce the ore resource that spawns in the biome that the village has generated in. According to the Minecraft legends handguide, villages produce more the more defences there are near it (tests needed). The shared village chests improvement makes it so the player collects resources in all village chests across all villages when opening just one of them.

Witch hut[edit | edit source]

Each village contains one witch hut. Witches can only be spawned at witch huts once any village has been defended from a piglin attack.

Mobs[edit | edit source]

Multiple mobs can spawn within villages:

  • Villagers spawn in a village upon its generation, they will wander aimlessly around the village and will never leave it.
  • One witch will spawn near the village's witch hut upon village generation, witches can also be spawned at witch huts once they are unlocked.
  • Warriors will spawn in large groups at village fountains after they have been unlocked, more will spawn if other warriors are lured away from the fountain or are killed.
  • One of each mount will spawn at village fountains as long as it has been previously unlocked.
  • Cats spawn commonly in villages.
  • Once they have been rebuilt, if a First has been destroyed or is not being lured by the player, it will respawn at a village fountain if the player is in close proximity to a village.
  • Piglins will spawn on the outskirts of a village and travel to the fountain if the village is currently undergoing an attack from piglins.

Piglin attacks[edit | edit source]

A village that has been attacked and occupied by piglins.

Villages can undergo piglin attacks, where large amounts of piglins will spawn around the village and attempt to destroy its fountain and kill villagers. If the fountain is destroyed the attack is considered a success for the piglins, and they will occupy the village. When occupied, the village cannot be fast travelled to, its village chest will not produce resources, all villagers will be placed in cages, and a set amount of piglins will be present in the village. If all occupying piglins are killed the occupation ends and villagers are automatically freed from their cages. However, fast travel and village chest functionality is only restored when the fountain is healed, which can be done with a carpenter hut.

Piglin attacks on villages happen at random, with two exceptions:

  • The nearest village to the Well of Fate is immediately targeted by piglins after the tutorial is completed at the start of the Campaign, this is the only piglin attack that occurs during the day.
  • Once all Horde of the Hunt bases have been destroyed, a random village will be targeted and attacked the following night. The Beast spawns during this village attack, the attack ends imediately upon The Beast's defeat.

Encountering a village

"Villages are important ally settlements and fast travel points that the piglins target at night. As long as you keep them safe, villagers will collect resources for you in the fountain chest. Fortify them with structures like walls and towers to make them easier to defend. Empty village chest? The residents might be too busy dodging piglin maces and blaze arrows."
