Dutch page :nl:Sjabloon:BlockSprite/doc[edit source]
Hi,
We're having some problems on the Dutch wiki, when i try to make changes to the Template talk page :nl:Sjabloon:BlockSprite/doc it goes to this screen: [1], just a white screen with in the url bar a url which states that it's submitting but it's done loading, do you know how to fix this? I've tried deleting and remaking the article, didn't work.
-- TheWombatGuru t | c NL Admin 23:40, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
- Seems to be working fine for me, though I only tested previews and diffs, not actually saving the page. If it's still a problem for you, contact Wynthyst; it looks like a server backend issue that Curse would have to fix. -- Orthotopetalk 00:18, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- Strange, I also can't edit the English version of that page, I also had this problem with other large pages. -- TheWombatGuru t | c NL Admin 00:45, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

GUI[edit source]
Dear Orthotope,
I'm not sure what GUI is, but why don't you remove the crosshairs from the pictures because I'm not sure how to do so.
Sincerely,
SquareMan (talk) 22:56, 18 January 2014 (UTC)SquareMan78649
PS: It really doesn't matter if you use either a render image or in-game image of the cold-en oak tree. As long as they both look the same, it's fine.
- As two people have already explained on your talk page, pressing the F1 key will hide the in-game GUI (inventory bar, arm/item in hand, and crosshairs). -- Orthotopetalk 01:52, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
Furnace[edit source]
Any reason you deleted the redirect? It's a fairly common misspelling, so I thought it would be fine, unless it's this wikis policy to not use redirects or something. 68.112.222.22 05:23, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
- Redirects are useful for alternative names (Dinnerbone redirects to Nathan Adams), making links less case-sensitive (Cobblestone wall redirects to Cobblestone Wall), and not breaking links when pages are moved, among other things. However, they generally aren't for misspellings of common words. -- Orthotopetalk 05:46, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
- I see. It's a common policy on many wikis to redirect for common misspellings, which is why I was confused. 68.112.222.22 07:03, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

I have a dick little 11 year old brother who can't resist trolling this wiki when he saw I got a account. When I told him to get off mine, he made is own account and griefed, but not before griefing on my account. I will change my password and delete history after I log off, so he can't get on. - Matt is responsible for the Lua magic that does that. If you want it on the Italian wiki, you'll need to have the Scribunto extension installed, copy all the relevant Modules, and update the related templates. -- Orthotopetalk 19:17, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
- Actually, if you just want the tooltip, you just need the "Minetip" JS and the relevant CSS. –Matt ᐸ Talk

Updated altitude graphs?[edit source]
Will there be any updates to the altitude graphs? The most recent one was for Minecraft 1.5, and Minecraft 1.8 will be out in a few months. You're the only person who appears to have edited them, and I've learned that they are difficult to make after trying to compile some data myself using MCEdit and spreadsheets. Are you planning on updating them? Do you have scripts that help create them or at least compile the text-based data? I am interested in helping if needed. --65.8.89.87 08:25, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
- Orthotope got scripts from from VictorJavAdore who wrote a Java module that created the custom SVG graphs, but VictorJavAdore said he lost his own copies of the source code. Zerpa has shared Ruby scripts that use gnuplot, and someone named l0b0 on GitHub has released a Python package called mian that uses matplotlib. --65.8.84.82 17:14, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

- I don't think apostrophes can be part of the name, since they're used in the module as string delimiters. Matt may know how to escape them, since he's the Lua expert. For now,
id=rabbit-foot
will work. -- Orthotopetalk 17:52, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

- I'm familiar with the movie and its Macguffin. However, as per Rule 7, speculative content is not to be added to this wiki. Unless someone at Mojang confirms that it's intended as a movie reference, it's far more likely to refer to the historical use of an actual rabbit's foot. Note that this is also speculation and should not be added to the article unless confirmed by Mojang. -- Orthotopetalk 22:08, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

Suspicious "Doom Gate"[edit source]
Hello Orthotope!
I looked into recent changes and saw a "Doom Gate" T Flip-Flop made by Hello2215. However, it lacks a reasonable source like most other circuits do. Is it against the rules? Also, the schematic isn't there... Keep that in mind.
--Regards, Naista2002 (RU T C) 07:29, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
- I don't see a problem with it. The section could be improved – create a schematic, modify it a bit to use redstone wiring as inputs instead of buttons – but it's not violating any rules. -- Orthotopetalk 07:47, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
- It's not violating any rules, but it's a trivial variation of Grizdale's TFF right above it. —munin ·

- By the way, the "Doom Gate" can be a full SRT latch/flip flop. The Reset input must be connected to the top dropper through a solid block:

Requesting Rollback Ability[edit source]
Hi Orthotope,
Sorry about my recent revert spam on the Pocket Edition upcoming features page. May I request the ability to rollback like you and the admins can, or can you tell me how I can perform a rollback if I already have it?
— EthanCentaurai · 20:42, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- We don't have a specific rollback group, and only bureaucrats/Curse (i.e., not me) can change user group rights anyway. The easiest way to revert multiple edits is to go to the page history, compare the pre-vandalism revision of the page with the current one, and use the 'undo' link on that diff page. It's a few more steps than a rollback, but does the same thing. -- Orthotopetalk 20:50, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- No worries. I did that before and manually typed in the "revert consecutive edits by <user>" edit message but wasn't sure if that was the correct way to revert mass vandalism. I'll do it in future if the need arises. :-)

- We mostly called on Wyn to deal with things normal admins couldn't: user group changes, cross-wiki stuff, extension installation, CAPTCHA troubleshooting, anything that requires backend access to the MediaWiki installation. She sometimes got involved in more everyday things as well, and I don't recall anyone complaining about that. Revert on User talk:TheGeekyGirlMiner[edit source]
Hello. I want to say that while blanking other person's talk page is disruptive, it seems appropriate when that page is not used in appropriate ways (like in case of User talk:TheGeekyGirlMiner. Please remember that common sense exists. Thanks! --Naista2002 ᐸ Talk

- For the most part, people can do whatever they want in their own userspace; see the footnote on the Wiki Rules. -- Orthotopetalk 11:43, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
- But, as per common sense, talk pages should only be used for discussions (except "talk page sandboxes", theorized by me, but they are only for discussion tests and talk page template tests). For me, the common sense seems to win, and that led to tagging User talk:TheGeekyGirlMiner and User talk:GratefulSymphonia for deletion. Majr, who deleted the latter page, didn't asked any questions nor reverted my edits there.
- Another option is to move the contents of that "talk" page to an appropriate sub-page of User:TheGeekyGirlMiner. --Naista2002 ᐸ Talk
Contribs 11:54, 31 October 2014 (UTC) (with edits at 11:56, 31 October 2014 (UTC))
- That is what most people use them for, but again, unless someone is being generally disruptive, they can use their talk page however they want. Arguably, CSS pages are only supposed to be used for CSS styling, not article contents, but I'm not going to tell you how to manage your userspace. -- Orthotopetalk 16:16, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
- Naista, that is not your userspace and you have no right to tell other people how to use their userspace. If you think someone isn't using their userspace to its best potential, the most you should do is try to discuss it with them in a helpful manner, not delete their content. If someone did that to me in my userspace I would report them to an admin for vandalism. —munin ·

- Stop removing the deletion notice. The "correct usage" of a user's talk page is for discussing or asking that user, not for making pages or writing a tutorial (the purpose of drafts or sandboxes). Once again, Majr deleted User talk:GratefulSymphonia, a page with similar problems, without questions. And, blocking me will only escalate this conflict. One more revert, and I or someone will report this to Majr. --Naista2002 ᐸ Talk

- You will report this to me, and expect me to do what? Do you consider me to have absolute authoritative power over this wiki or something? If you have an issue, you take it up on the community portal. Everyone has equal power to help decide what to do, and all admins have equal power to enact those decisions when necessary.
- I think a user's main talk page should remain available for its intended purpose. Putting other junk in there doesn't impede the ability for the talk page to be used, so it doesn't matter, but it is preferable if they would do that elsewhere.
- I deleted User talk:GratefulSymphonia because it seemed like spam, not because it wasn't the correct usage of a talk page. –Majr ᐸ Talk

- (edit conflict)Naista, that may be your definition of 'correct usage', but is it an official guideline anywhere? Again, our rules are explicitly permissive as to what people can do in their own userspace. Also, please read wp:DONTBITE; if a new user is editing improperly, it's better to educate them (e.g., suggest that content is better suited to a user page than a user talk page), rather than simply delete whatever they have done. -- Orthotopetalk 23:28, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

Recent deletion of 1.4.1 and 1.6.3[edit source]
This may seem impolite, but I request that both 1.4.1 and 1.6.3 be recreated to their fullest extent as said versions actually do exist. Proof from bug tracker: [2] and [3] -- BDJP007301 22:14, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
- They were never released: 1.4.1-pre was followed by 1.4.2, and 1.6.3-pre was followed by 1.6.4; see [4] and [5]. -- Orthotopetalk 22:33, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
Revert edit back[edit source]
Hi, I am Elroygoh. Orthotope, if you revert my edit saying that it is not a place to report bugs, then why are there reported bugs in the article? Please revert it back where it is. I am improving the article, not griefing/vandalising it, by giving correct and relevant info. Thank you. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 116.15.16.7 (talk) at 4:21, 16 December 2014 (UTC). - There should be not bugs in articles. All the bugs in “Issues” section should be replaced with
