Hey someone edited the recipe to emerald block and now it says it uses 6 emerald and 1 arrow to one emerald block 189.122.103.167 21:38, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

Name

I was playing around and I put them in the crafting table. Before they said emerald but after i put them in the crafting table their name changed diamond. It seems like a bug but does anyone else have this problem? Killrbladez 21:57, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Diamonds called emeralds in code = false

Diamonds are not technically called "emeralds" in Minecraft's original source code as it is when you buy it. They are called something like "ccb" or otherwise, because the code is obfuscated.

The mistake of calling diamonds Emeralds in the code is the people who did Minecraft Coder Pack. If I remember correctly Notch didn't tell us how to de-obfuscate the code nor did he provide an answer key, so for all we know the code he originally made (pre-obfuscation) could have called diamonds "thoseShinyBlueThings". Coincidence?

There is a world in the iconic video game Sonic the Hedgehog 2 called 'Emerald Hill Zone', and emeralds are only found naturally in Extreme Hills biomes.

Why Rubies are gone

I bet they got confused with redstone (there red like redstone). But if there is an official reson, contact me. - Ogre Pikmin

Apparently, it is due to Dinnerbone being red-green colorblind, but this seems wrong (changing a red object to a green object to help a person who can't tell the difference is quite strange). 121.127.214.223 07:51, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

This is kind of ancient, but I'll explain my thoughts anyway.

I'm pretty sure it's because it might be difficult to tell the difference from a distance. It would be easy to mix up redstone and ruby from a good few blocks away. Bad for cavers. - MinecraftPhotos4U (talk) 08:23, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

Somthing Weird With Emeralds

While i was on Mushroom island and i was mining i found ores of emerlads.Then i installed Xray and saw there are emerald ores And they only spawn in Extreme hills.And its weird Idk.

Trivia: Strong resemblance to Legend of Zelda rupees

Don't really know how intentional it is, but emerald show a great resemblance to the rupees of the Legend of Zelda franchise:

• rupees are the currency in loz; emeralds are used for trading in mc;
• the most common rupees are green; the emeralds are green;
• the the shapes seem related

Emeralds hard to find

why is this page listed as a stub? seems like it has enough content, so... can someone either kill the stub, or tell me why it's listed?

Trivia section?

There should be some peculiarities about emeralds, right? I mean, I think if we add a trivia section this article shouldn't be a stub any more. Any ideas? Trivia sections are generally a sign of a substandard article, and should not be added just to pad an article out to some perceived "long enough" length. Trivia should instead either be incorporated properly into the rest of the article - if it is actually noteworthy - or simply omitted.

Also note that an article's length is not the only determiner of whether it's a stub; even very short articles can be considered not a stub if they are well-written and say everything worth saying about their subject. 「ディノ奴千？！」^{? · ☎ Dinoguy1000} 17:54, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

(Not)Only in Extreme Hills

Emeralds are not rare at all...

You can say "Emeralds are one of the rarest materials in Minecraft until you found a village."

Reason: Sometimes you can sell REALLY cheap stuff like wheat to villagers, in quantity of 1 emerald. By the way, you can quickly make money (Even the trade was locked you can still trade other stuff to unlock it).
