durability when breaking "instant break" blocks with tools[edit source]

Does pickaxes lose durability when used to break instant-break blocks, such as torches, flowers and tall grass? --Andrybak (talk) 20:05, 16 January 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Refer to Tools#Item durability. KnightMiner (t·c) 20:49, 16 January 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Wiki source of the recipes[edit source]

I'm trying to get the wiki source of all the recipes. I think it has something to do with that script Module:Recipe_list. I'd like to get the wiki sources of all the recipes without downloading every individual item/block page wiki source, is that possible using that script or some other way ? --Rom1504 (talk) 09:06, 23 March 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ok, so I found out some things. Let's answer myself :

For your information, this is what I want to use that data for https://github.com/andrewrk/mineflayer/issues/229 .

--Rom1504 (talk) 09:50, 23 March 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The individual recipes within the "obtaining" section are stored on each individual page, while the "usage" recipes are loaded from other pages obtaining. The script here loads recipes using DPL, which would be helpful if you are loading the recipe data on the wiki, although it obtains the recipes from the other pages, meaning the data is in no way stored here.
Your options would be:
  • Taking the source text of all the pages that use the template for crafting. In this case, in order to process the data you would need to read a few of the modules you mentioned, and one you missed, Module:Crafting. (this could in theory be done on wiki using DPL, where you output the text rather than the displayed recipes, though it would be complicated to get the data into a format that is useful.)
  • Attempting to converting the html source for your purposes. KnightMiner t/c 14:26, 23 March 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ok I think I will try that first option.

I actually already tried the second option, with some success (see https://github.com/andrewrk/mineflayer/blob/master/bin/transform1_recipes.js ) but it's imperfect and kind of ugly so I think it would be better to parse the source directly.

--Rom1504 (talk) 14:42, 23 March 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's probably best to use an API query to run a DPL query to extract data.
{{#dpl:categorymatch=%recipe
|include={Crafting}:1:2:3:4:5:6:7:8:9:A1:B1:C1:A2:B2:C2:A3:B3:C3:Output
|mode = userformat
|secseparators = ====
|multisecseparators = ====
}}
in API form
for example, should return all recipes in a more digestible manner (if you're hitting a DPL limit, do each category in category:recipe types one-by-one), but you may wish to do more filtering to avoid invalid recipes, like filtering out userpages. You'll still need to read some other data, like Module:Inventory slot/Aliases to translate stuff like "Any Wood", but lua tables are pretty similar to JSON, so they should be fairly easy to read. Thanks KnightMiner and Majr ! I used all these info and managed to make scripts to extract blocks, items and recipes (there https://github.com/PrismarineJS/minecraft-data/tree/master/bin/wiki_extractor). --Rom1504 (talk) 14:31, 2 May 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Category/subcategory for Banners?[edit source]

I can't be the only one who gets frustrated trying to find a recipe only to have to scroll through a ton of banner recipes in the decoration section. Maybe even just have the base banner, with a link to the banner page (and have that have all the individual banner style recipes if it doesn't already)? Lizardorb (talk) 17:39, 3 April 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Maybe a different section altogether for Banners? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 19:14, 3 April 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Computer Edition[edit source]

The introduction to this page is considerably longer than on most pages. It may be best to put PC into a section, the way PE and console editions are. The Blobs 04:30, 28 February 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Have fixed recipes been removed from the game?[edit source]

They don't directly exist in data packs, and there seem to be zero in the listing now. Can someone investigate? 74.213.225.80 05:11, 13 July 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What did they even do? I just noticed that icon in the explanation for the first time today. Fabian42 (talk) 17:46, 13 July 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Suspicious stew[edit source]

Suspicious stew is listed twice because the flower page is in Category:Foodstuff recipe. If it could get removed, that would probably solve the problem. See topic on the flower talk page. 76.24.42.79 19:29, 15 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

"Removed Recipes" tab has no hide feature[edit source]

Every tab on the page can be shown or hidden with a button, except the removed recipes, which always show. Can this tab be given some love please?

would a crafting recipe that was assigned the wrong item constitute as a changed recipe?[edit source]

just wondering, cause like that was the case of the Jukebox crafting recipe in preupload Alpha v1.0.14, where it instead, by mistake, made a Bookshelf. this was corrected in the reupload of said version, where it gives a Jukebox. again, just wondering

Wooden Axe added twice[edit source]

the Wooden Axe crafting is already included in the Axe crafting. would it be possible to be eliminated? Galnooz (talk) 20:22, 28 November 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I agree. Under Crafting#Tools, Axe is given first with all of its variants, and at the bottom of the table there's a recipe all by itself for Wooden Axe. This is a result of a database query in Module:Recipe list, which queries a database table "Crafting JSON" using type=tool, which returns a list of recipes for tools — and that list includes both Axe and Wooden Axe. I don't see where that table can be edited. Perhaps MarkusRost or Mudscape may know. ~Anachronist (talk) 21:06, 28 November 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Update: MarkusRost just fixed it. These recipes are being pulled into the article from other articles, and there was a "don't use" parameter in the wooden axe recipe that had a typo in it. ~Anachronist (talk) 19:59, 3 December 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
there is other ones like this, diamond sword also appears twice. And some others stone tools could be merge with the others tools Galnooz (talk) 22:06, 8 December 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Diamond sword had a typo that's now fixed but that didn't fix the problem of several combat items being listed separately. ~Anachronist (talk) 17:17, 9 December 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
OK, tools and combat items are now consolidated. Doing that for the blocks is going to be a huge task, grouping them into slabs, stairs, planks, etc. If you're interested in helping, here's what to do.
The lists of crafting recipes here get pulled in from other articles. Each grouped crafting recipe has its own page. Let's take slab for example, which includes a grouped crafting recipe for all slabs. In the Slab#Crafting section, if you look at the crafting recipe table in the source editor, you may see a line
|ignoreusage=1
That line needs to be removed from the grouped recipe to allow it to show up here in this crafting article, but it needs to be added to each of the individual recipes on their individual pages to suppress them from the list in this crafting article.
On the individual recipe pages, we need to add the following to the crafting recipe table.
Take Wooden Slab for example. It needs the following lines added at the top of each table:
|showname=0
|name=[[Wooden Slab]]
...and the bottom of the table should have
ignoreusage=1
Once you fix a crafting table, you should refresh the page (under the "More" tab) if you have permission, otherwise just wait a day for the changes to propagate through the server caches. ~Anachronist (talk) 19:28, 10 December 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
