About Edit

Angry Birds is a multimedia franchise, beginning with the release of Angry Birds in 2009. The game is considered incredibly influential in the mobile gaming industry, becoming one of the first apps to achieve widespread popularity.[1][2] Players in the game control a series of limbless birds, which are fired out of a slingshot at the constructs of Bad Piggies, the birds' green skinned mortal enemies. Within the context of the original game, there were initially five birds to use. Red (a red bird) is the most basic, lacking any particular ability, while Chuck (a yellow bird) has a dash that can be used to pierce wood. The blue bird has the ability to split into three birds (Jay, Jake, and Jim) which can break glass, while Bomb and Matilda explode and drop an explosive egg respectively.

After the popularity of the original game, many spin-offs were created, beginning with variations of the original gameplay with added gimmicks. Among these games include Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Space, and Angry Birds Friends. From 2013 to 2016, an animated series of short films based off the series, Angry Birds Toons, would be released with a redesign of the characters. Following the change in art style, more experimental games would be released, such as the role-playing game Angry Birds Epic and racing game Angry Birds Go!, while others would continue the slingshot centric gameplay, such as Angry Birds Stella. In 2016, a film based off the series would be released, entitled The Angry Birds Movie, which told the origin of Red and featured a third major shift in aesthetic, now giving the birds limbs and voiced dialogue.
