Regarding Weird Gloop[edit source]

Would we use the same accounts as the RuneScape Wiki once we fork to Weird Gloop? --TheGreatSpring (talk | contribs) 09:49, 16 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

While I don't think an exact plan has been decided upon, we will likely share accounts with the RuneScape wiki, yes. –Sonicwave talk 04:34, 17 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Just to update this to avoid confusion, we do not share accounts with the RuneScape wiki, though we will share them with other Minecraft language wikis once they fork. –Sonicwave talk 22:11, 25 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Add a spam filter that prevents links to Fandom[edit source]

Please add an edit filter that prevents links to Fandom. Conversely, nobody can add links to minecraft.wiki or the like. Thank you. 143.44.165.227 01:09, 28 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm not sure if there's a need for such a filter. That would also prevent people from editing existing content that includes links to Fandom, although that's a rare case (only on some old talk and project pages) and we have been gradually changing these remaining links anyways. –Sonicwave talk 21:56, 28 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree with Sonicwave in this case. ReCrafter4J (talk) 18:12, 16 March 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Salt (create-protect) more titles[edit source]

Please salt the following titles (includes strong language, generic titles and fanon/creepypasta names):

List redacted; view list here

Djkdhdiebdbdjdndb (talk) 02:46, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I don't see a particular reason to preemptively protect these titles unless they actually become an issue. Common bad language should be disallowed by filters instead. –Sonicwave talk 04:11, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Must be salted. The following reasons are: Abominable, Trolls, etc. are similar to Shrek (a salted page) in a way that they are produced by DreamWorks Animation; Template:TheNameOfYourTemplate, Add article, etc. are similar to salted generic titles like Index.php and Search; White Enderman, Dillager, etc. are similar to salted fanon/creepypasta titles like Entity303 and Ancient Vines; and titles such as Adolf Hitler, Vagina, etc. are similar to salted titles such as Penis and Fuck (I did not insult you). Additionally, full protection of Armor trim snapshot should be extended to infinite and File:Map.png should be fully protected ("Map" is a generic file name; see this page). Thank you. 1.Sorry if I spell things wrong. 2.Can you tell me if you can add a page (or more) for beginners like me where 170.10.51.11 02:25, 15 February 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What are you wanting added? To get started see Minecraft Wiki:How to help.  Nixinova T  C   02:26, 15 February 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sorry. I did that on accident. -we can go to that page where its like what to do from spawn-to-credits. Not like the specific things. 170.10.51.11 02:32, 15 February 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Retiring administrator right[edit source]

After some contemplation, I've decided to retire the administrator role. Although I'm not retiring from the wiki entirely and would like to request to retain the patroller right, I realistically don't have as much time or interest in the wiki or Minecraft itself as I used to. I haven't really been keeping up with wiki matters for a while and don't see myself doing much in the way of administration in the future.

I do want to express that I'm quite confident in the state of the wiki since the split from Fandom in 2023. The idea of leaving the wiki farm had been raised in the past, but I had always approached it with trepidation, and in fact was already on the verge of retiring just before the forking effort really started gaining momentum. However, the drive shown by community members encouraged me to get involved again to help push the effort forward. I could not have imagined the fork going as successfully as it did, with the wiki becoming more connected with the Minecraft community and regaining a substantial amount of activity that's lasted even until now, a year and a half later. I'm glad to have rode out the past couple of years with the wiki community; it's been an honor. –Sonicwave talk 05:30, 5 March 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's been great having you on the admin team. I know exactly how it feels to simmer away from the wiki after years of active use, it can just get to be a bit of an overload, can't it. Don't be shy asking for the perms back if you ever do regain your level of interest a while down the road. Good luck for what you have in future now!  Nixinova T  C   08:22, 5 March 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Indeed. Thanks so much for your service as an admin Sonicwave, I hope to see you around still. As Nixinova said, don't be shy asking for your admin rights back, I know for a fact Nixinova actually retired at one point and then came back with the fork. Thanks again for your work as an admin, and might I say:
Anyone can contribute. I think it is a wise choice to retire from admin but stay as patroller. This way, you can still help the wiki as few can, but not be burdened by adminship. (Also-- nice job being an interim board member, by the way!) -~- Nerdyguy2000   Talk   Edits  14:09, 5 March 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Could you please allow commercial use of your Minecraft Wiki logo so I can upload it to Wikimedia Commons? ReCrafter4J (talk) 18:08, 16 March 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sonicwave is not the author of the logo and cannot allow commercial use of Minecraft Wiki logo. They simply uploaded newer logo revision because the creator didn't have appropriate permissions to do so. Frisk (talk) 18:14, 16 March 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ok, thanks. ReCrafter4J (talk) 18:23, 16 March 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]
