Even though the mini-series came out a long time ago and people forgot about it, I think it is necessary to create a separate namespace for it, so that the pages about the series do not conflict with the pages about the game content. Also can create a Mini-Series:Wiki page, similar to the Wiki pages of other Minecraft projects, so that new people can learn about it. List default item components in item articles
Ever since 24w09a introduced the component system, the game assigns certain components to every item in the game by default. Should these be listed on the items' pages? - User-12316399 (talk) 13:54, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, of course. KorayTehGOAT (talk) 11:14, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
Neutral: I'm actually not sure if the default components should be on each item page, as it would take a lot of work, even with a bot, to add the default components to all the items' pages. Furthermore, the information could be quite redundant, for example, on Bread, if we add the
minecraft:food
andminecraft:consumable
components on the page, it is actually pointless as it's already mentioned that bread can be eaten and restores 5 hunger, etc. I understand that the reader might not understand the components, but that's why Data component format is a page. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 12:17, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- Perhaps, however a lot of information could be considered redundant anyway (e.g. most namespaced IDs already effectively duplicate the item name). If showing this information could prove confusing or bloat the page, we could make it collapsed by default. - User-12316399 (talk) 11:25, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- Sure. It's still a huge change and definitely needs bot actions, so we should wait for more opinions first. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 12:00, 24 January 2025 (UTC)

- On this topic, have we comprehensively listed item tags on item pages yet? This may be something worth pursuing before or alongside this. - User-12316399 (talk) 00:40, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
Uploading enchanted item textures
I don't really understand how to upload enchanted item textures. The texture files don't have them separately, and I don't know how to make the enchantment glint overlay. Since the files actually use a bunch of pngs to represent each frame, and not gifs, so I can't just overlay it. I'm asking because I want to reupload File:Enchanted Mace.gif, which currently looks horrendous. I don't want to pay for Adobe After Effects just for a gif. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 23:41, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Nerdyguy2000: Do you know how to do this? I mean, I trust you with technical things now, and I know you're active right now. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 03:06, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- I don't, sorry. I actually don't even know how to see the game files (probably because I only play on mobile/console), and I have no idea how to get renders (probably for a similar reason; I edit on mobile and my phone doesn't support png files). I do know that it's possible to make a gif with separate files, or as least my device is able to make jpgs into gifs. I also once heard that gifs don't support translucency, maybe that's why it's a bunch of pngs in the game files, I dunno. I really don't know a lot, but right now I'm trying to help as much as I can with my limited knowledge. I apologize that I can't be more help, though yeah, that mace gif does need reuploading (unless it's not possible to improve it, which I doubt). -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 03:22, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oh okay. You can't actually get the game files easily, you need to download Java and stuff. I get the files from https://www.mcasset.cloud, which has the files extracted for me already. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 03:23, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. I do hope my comment helped at least a bit, though. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 03:28, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- By the way, by downloading Java, I mean downloading the program at java.com, not downloading Java Edition. Also I just realised I wrote a run-ons sentence. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 03:30, 27 February 2025 (UTC)

- I wanted to cover an alternative process at User:BabylonAS/Creating enchanted item images with Krita, but I wait until Leo768 provides replacement glint frames that are consistent with 1.19.4+ default settings (50% speed, 75% intensity). Also, Krita itself has an issue with exporting animations at certain formats: re-opening the export settings resets them, and in case of WebP, the lossless option doesn’t work properly (I have doubts that the resulting images would fit within GIF’s 255 colors limitation). BabylonAS 08:46, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Also, why does the enchanted mace texture look horrendous? I don't get why someone uploaded that image; is there a reason why the enchanted mace is hard to do? --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 09:08, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Likely in-game footage, like someone actually recorded the enchanted mace on an inventory, in the game, and then crop it, and upload it into Minecraft Wiki. Most accurate and simplest way to do it if you ask me :P Outrowed (talk) 10:28, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oh okay. So it's simply low resolution. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 10:30, 27 February 2025 (UTC)

- Well, I actually finish recording the glint on the black texture item. But since they're screenshots from the game, I had trouble sorting them. -- Leo768 (talk) 10:20, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- What do you mean by that? I don't understand why is sorting hard; isn't it just one recording? Use some Chinese if necessary; I speak Chinese decently well so it's actually easier to understand for me when compared to how some people speak English as a second language. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 10:27, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- To record the glint cycle, I use a program to take 1650 consecutive screenshots in the game as the frames. So the problem is which frame should be used as the first frame of the looping animation. -- Leo768 (talk) 11:40, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Well, since it's looped, any could work. Just make sure the order is correct. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 12:20, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Leo768: Is this done now? I feel like the enchanted mace should be reuploaded ASAP because it would be quite confusing as a reader why Mace doesn't have the enchanted image, as other tool pages, such as Iron Pickaxe, do. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 05:09, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

- For one, it has outdated glint frames (default settings have changed in 1.19.4); two, the user doesn’t want to use payware for a single file. BabylonAS 10:32, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
Latin translation
I'm wondering if there should be a Latin translation project. I kinda want to start one, but I want to make sure it doesn't break rules first, as Latin is a dead language, so it might work differently. My reasoning is that you can play Java Edition in Latin, as well as that we have a lzh (Literary Chinese, but really it's just ancient Chinese as no one actually speaks like that, it's 文言文) wiki. After seeing that the Latin Wikipedia (or rather, Vicipaedia) exists, I think we should create a Latin wiki. My Latin level is only about A1, so I can't write that much content, but maybe I can write some basic sentences. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 01:34, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
How to add a photo to your account
Hey I made my account for Minecraft Wiki extremely recently and I was wondering how to add a photo Pokemonster (talk) 03:44, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- There is no option to add a profile picture. This is because of privacy reasons as far as I know. -
StizzurpXDD(talk) 03:57, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- You cannot add a profile picture. We had this back on Fandom, but it wasn't added here. You will need a user infobox, or add a picture. 148.72.172.244 04:38, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- If you want add an image to your user page, click "Insert" and "Images and media". Then you can search for an existing image or upload your own here (write

in summary). If you want similar box as many pages, click "Insert" and "Template", type "Infobox profile" and fill the fields you want (you can add more fields, such as "Image" with the checkboxes left).Miner(

- Yeah, you can add an image to your user page as said by Miner, or add one in your signature (if you want I can provide details on how to, but I don't want to write an unnecessarily long explanation yet). Unlike Fandom, profile pictures don't exist here. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 12:12, 2 March 2025 (UTC)

You should have to delete the disambiguation page "20100131", it has been unused since its creation 185.100.244.83 22:16, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
- This is something that should be on the Admin noticeboard, not here. Also, the page is already up for deletion. I'm not sure if that was you or not, but still.

Interactive viewer for panoramas
Currently, the Panorama page just has the six texture files laid out as the net of a cube. Perhaps it would be better if some sort of embedded interactive display could be created for use on the page, which would compile each of the six texture files into the interior of a cube, like is done in-game? By default, this would rotate at the normal speed, but could be clicked and dragged to change the viewpoint at will. - User-12316399 (talk) 00:52, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
- I've thought about that, having some panorama thing for fun. The unfolded cube thing is really quite annoying for me.
PhoenixAsh89 (talk) (contribs) 00:54, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
- I quite like this idea. It'd be cool to see old panoramas as they were rather than... How we currently do it. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 01:10, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
Interactive Langton's Ant demo
Since the wiki has been hosting several tools as of recently, such as Chunkbase embeds and other utilities at Calculators, I think it may also be a good idea to have an interactive simulation that could be added to the An Ant page, so people can see how the block works without having to actually load into the snapshot.
This could be done relatively easily if we were to embed a simulation program such as LifeViewer, and possibly an associated template (the conwaylife wiki uses this). We could then place a viewer embed on the page similarly to this:

Whether we would want to inline the rule data after the pattern file, or introduce a new Rule: namespace for rule files like the LifeWiki does, is probably up to the community to decide, since we could end up using viewer embeds for demonstrating other things about the game (for example fluids spreading, leaf adjacency, farmland hydration, and possibly some simple redstone contraptions).
Any opinions? - User-12316399 (talk) 00:12, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if this is really necessary, especially because we could just link to a website that simulates this (my favourite of these websites is this). Also apparently there is a Rule namespace, it's just empty. Can someone explain in simple terms what this Rule namespace is for? -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 00:21, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
- Much the same could probably be said about the existing chunkbase embeds, since we could externally link in those cases as well.
- A Rule: namespace would be used for hosting custom ruletable data for things that aren't built-in (which would be most of the things we'd use it for), especially if said rules are going to be used across multiple different pages. - User-12316399 (talk) 00:26, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
- The current Rule namespace is created by Semantic MediaWiki (SMW for short), which is what we use to move data around the wiki such as villager trades and crafting recipes. SMW documentation literally says the Rule namespace is "currently not used" so its not really clear what its meant to be used for. Mudscape
talk 00:33, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
- I think since An Ant is only available in an april fools snapshot it is not worth the implementation cost to embed an entire interactive calculator. Both having a gif of how the ant works and/or a link to a simulation website sounds like a great way to improve the page though. Mudscape

View MCW #en/editors feed with a Zulip account
I created a Zulip account to view the MCW discord several weeks or months ago. On the meta:Zulip page, it says there is a feed for the #editors
channel alongside #wiki-requests
. These channels don't seem to be available or visible after creating a zZlip account. Previously in discord, active editors could use #editor-verification
to access the editor specific channels. Is there any way to do the same functionality on Zulip to enable the same channels? Delvin4519 (talk) 04:05, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
- First verify from a discord account and then connect/sync your account to zulip for all the channels. 2401:4900:A4C9:F64B:0:0:258F:C5F 06:18, 7 March 2025 (UTC)

You're IP becomes public if you log out mainly to be able to manage blocking vandals, as they can be identified by their IP. I stumbled across this revision which adds external links to Fabric and Liteloader's project homepages to Navbox modding resources
. I thought this was strange, since navboxes are usually used for navigation within a wiki, but then I also noticed Mods
, which links to Microsoft's BE Add-On documentation. Given that, I want to ask what this wiki's attitude regarding this is. Are external links generally accepted in navboxes? When, in particular, might one want to use them/avoid using them? Thanks! Much More Infinite (talk) 00:51, 9 March 2025 (UTC)

- Hi, as to my knowledge I need to be an admin to fork a wiki on fandom and as I can gather the admins on the Hungarian fandom minecraft wiki are basically nonexistent. What should I so? Adibalogh (talk) 17:02, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- There is a process to "adopt" a wiki on Fandom in the event that there are no bureaucrats or admins. See Adoption:Requests and Help:Adopting a community on Fandom. There appear to be certain requirements such as no active bureaucrats or admins for at least 60 days (I checked the wiki and think this is true), and you have to be an active contributor to the wiki you want to adopt. - I need to be an admin to fork a wiki on fandom - no. Anyone can export pages there. Arina (she/her) 09:28, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from a newbie
Hi! I am DoctorePothole from Terraria Wiki. As you know, most self hosted wikis have their own Wiki Text. I am having trouble finding it, so if someone can help me out. DoctorePothole (talk) 11:54, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

Uploaded my first image
Hey there guys, i uploaded my first image (Classic 0.0.23a Inventory.png), and added to the page, it contains all available blocks included in c0.0.23a_01 Amin Beqiri (talk) 16:33, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
MC Dungeons texture filenames
I noticed that Dungeons texture filenames are following 2 different naming conventions. Some filenames begin with a T_
, but some instead have (Dungeons...Texture)
appended to the title. Would it not be better if they all followed the same naming convention?

Changing button icon in MediaViewer
It is better to change the share button icon in the MediaViewer to be just an arrow, which is more widely used icon for it. This can be done through MediaViewer targeted stylesheet. DoctorePothole (talk) 05:32, 12 March 2025 (UTC)

Idea for new calculator
I don't want to just slap this on the calculator project page, I want to discuss my idea. Just note: this isn't an idea for the main game, it's for MCD.
Anyway, my idea is a calculator for ancient hunts; what are the ancients that might respond to specific items, how many ancients might respond based on the enchantment points sacrificed, the chances of getting any ancient, how many times a specific ancient might respond, the chance of any given door leading to an ancient dungeon as opposed to a gold room, maybe some calculations based on difficulty, etc.
So, what do you think about my idea? -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 18:32, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- Replying here in an attempt to draw attention to my comment; I really think this idea has potential. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 04:22, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
Soft support because I don't think calculators for MCD exist much if at all. I recently started playing MCD to try something new, and completed a few missions, but still haven't unlocked ancient hunts yet, so I'm not sure what they are; I don't know much about MCD yet so I might change my mind. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 06:09, 16 March 2025 (UTC)

Strong support. I just unlocked ancient hunts just then when playing MCD, and realized how useful that is. I don't have enough equipment to enter a hunt yet, but now I see that the sacrificed items and what it leads to is like calculating enchantments in the main game, so it should be good. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 08:32, 16 March 2025 (UTC)

What is the process to draw attention to a discussion on this wiki? Do I just post it here? Justjourney (talk) 04:16, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- I mean, there's requests for comment (on the main community portal page), but I've tried those; they don't really work anymore. What discussion are you trying to draw attention to? -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:15, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'll post it below Justjourney (talk) 17:08, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, the community talk page is one of the active discussion on Minecraft Wiki. There is no formal process to draw attention in here, other than RfC (which is rarely ever gets attention anyway), so you can just freely post or request whatever you want. There are also other places for active wiki discussion, such as the MCW:Forum and Minecraft Wiki Discord. The forum is mainly used for major proposals and evolving some ideas/changes for the wiki, the Discord discussions on the other hand are more casual. Outrowed (talk) 14:24, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

Block Renders Copyright Question
Copyright Question
I want to use block and item renders for my YouTube tutorials. However, I hope to monetize my videos in the future. The general copyright license for this forum is CC BY-NC-SA 3.0, meaning no commercial usage unless otherwise stated, and a mandatory attribution. However, I believe block and item renders specifically would fall under “unless otherwise stated” because these are specifically the property of Mojang Studios and under a different license. As stated for the wiki’s debris block licensing section, “this file (or parts of it) is copyright Mojang Studios. Though copyrighted, this screenshot, texture, audio, song, or other Mojang asset, or derivative of Mojang assets, is freely usable on this wiki.”
This aligns with what I’ve read on the Minecraft Usage Guidelines, which states:
“We don't own the original stuff that you create. We will however own things that are copies (or substantial copies) or derivatives of our property and creations - but if you create original things, they aren't ours. So, as an example:
- a single Minecraft block (including its textures and its ‘look and feel’) - we own that;
- your creation of a Gothic Cathedral with a rollercoaster running through it - we don't own that.”
In other words, if I understand correctly, block renders, as derivatives of Minecraft textures, belong exclusively to Mojang Studios. This seems to suggest that third parties cannot add restrictions to their use; only borrow them under Mojang’s terms like any other party, since third parties have no ownership claim under Mojang’s terms.
In sum, any copyright matters pertaining to the use and required attribution of block renders specifically would be under the exclusive jurisdiction of Mojang.
Is there something I’m missing? Obviously there’s still the matter of whether Mojang specifically allows use of the renders in monetized YouTube tutorials (which is hard to deduce in this case) - I was wondering about the Wiki and its policies specifically TheCedric (talk) 00:09, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
- Necessary I'm Not A Lawyer disclaimer, just my best understanding of copyrights: You are correct in your understanding there. Renders that use official textures made and owned by Mojang means they hold copyrights. Rendering them in special way is unlikely to be transformative enough to add a copyright of its own, so we assume copyrights belong to Mojang as per https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/usage-guidelines. Wiki cannot really add anything onto that, though if you plan to use renders from the wiki, it'd still be a nice gesture to credit contributors/link to the file page. Frisk (talk) 00:18, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
- My main fear with attribution is if a contributor misunderstands the process I used to reach the conclusion I did and attempts to file a copyright strike against me, thinking I violated the blanket forum license. They’d have proof of proper credit but if it were monetized they could also assume I’m using the work improperly and wield that attribution in tandem with the blanket license against me to build a stronger case. Basically, “this is clear proof that it’s mine and the wiki says what’s on their site can’t be used in a commercial capacity, therefore this guy is breaking copyright rules.” TheCedric (talk) 00:59, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'd say that closer to the truth is that all textual content is in CC BY-NC-SA 3.0, images are often from other places or with content copyrighted by Mojang, minority of images are probably under CC or assigned other license (like our logo or styling elements for the website). Our copyright status in the footer clearly states "Content on this site is licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 unless otherwise noted;", images most often fall under that unless otherwise noted.
- As to editor filing a copyright takedown, I'd say that's rather unlikely. I believe most of our editors uploading renders are aware of this license situation. I've not heard of any copyright claim by uploaders of the wiki, even though those renders are used A LOT by content creators and sometimes even Mojang themselves. So eh, I commend you for checking all the necessary copyright related information before using assets, but from side of the wiki contributors I really don't think you have anything to worry about regarding usage of Minecraft asset renders. Frisk (talk) 09:54, 16 March 2025 (UTC)

- Frisk beat me to it but I'll comment anyway(in agreement). I am 99% sure that the license mentioned on the file page supersedes the blanket license of CC BY-NC-SA 3.0. We can't exactly relicense something that we don't own in the first place, since like Mojang says, they still own the single Minecraft block. Mudscape
talk 00:19, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you guys so much. Navigating copyright as just a layperson is a nightmare. You’re right, Frisk, adding the credits would be a kind gesture so I think I’ll do that. I just don’t know how else to get images of blocks except through low-quality, zoomed-in screenshots from the game or taking from the textures folder itself (which would be 2D and partial unless I figured out how to model them). I’ve messed with 3D modeling software a little before (Unity) and it’s daunting stuff TheCedric (talk) 00:35, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
- I recall there was some ancient practice of dual-licensing block renders both under Mojang and under Creative Commons. Obviously that isn’t correct, and I’m sure all such cases are long gone. BabylonAS 10:49, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
- Interestingly, as I was making one of my tutorials today, I found that the enderchest render still lists the dual license: File:Ender Chest JE2 BE2.gif#mw-jump-to-license
- I ended up not using this anyway because the file was incompatible with my editor, but it is unique in that it’s a gif instead of a still.
- I imagine this is still unintentional/incorrect but I instantly remembered this thread when I found it. I’m pretty new to the wiki scene so I’m really not sure how to change it and don’t want to mess it up on the off chance it’s still correct. TheCedric (talk) 01:41, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
Self Nominating for Patroller Rights

I want to nominate myself for patroller rights. I’ve been part of this community since March 2024 and have made many contributions to the wiki. I’ve handled a lot of vandalism and disruptive edits. Patroller rights will help me deal with these problems faster, especially with the Rollback feature. I already spend time checking recent changes, so I can patrol edits as I go. Having patroller rights would also encourage me to work even harder to keep the wiki safe and well-maintained.
- StizzurpXDD(talk) 07:07, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
Neutral I just... Haven't seen you around reverting vandalism really, so I don't think I can provide any good opinion. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:10, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
Strong Support | I see Patroller not as a rank but as a responsibility which StizzurpXDD is ready to take up. He clearly has been active on discord and forums and has been making some vital constructive edits. He already has Auto-Patrol rights and over four thousand edits. I have seen him actively reverting vandalisms in the past and also in the recent days. I don't think there is any problem with him getting the rights.
(talk) 08:38, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
Strong oppose – Patrollers should follow the wiki rules and not write low-quality articles with AI (or at the very least AI-like) slop. Patrollers are not only there to fight vandalism but to ensure that articles on the wiki are correct and high quality. | violine1101 (talk) 16:49, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- The article you are mentioning is not written with AI at all. If you feel it is written too formally then it is probably because I write English formally (or atleast it looks too formal to native english speakers). I will not get into the AI discussion again, I've already explained hundreds of times that I don't use it. Plus, that's not the only article I've written and not even the only page I wrote recently. Take Taking Inventory, Block of the Month, Block of the Week and also one of my most extensively researched page, Event Server Test. Take Around the Minecraft World in 80 Biomes, Dev Diaries, Minecraft Monthly (episode summaries), How We Make Minecraft, Minecraft: The Great Wild (completion) and many more. If I used AI so extensively to create low quality slop, how was I able to create these pages? The simple answer is, I don't use AI but instead write everything myself. Also, I can make mistakes. If some article to you feels low quality, you can correct it, I'm not stopping you or neither is anyone else. I've no intrest in going against wiki rules for absolutely no reason. -

- This weak explanation and deflection from a genuine problem is very uninspiring. No one said that you used AI in your other articles. You used AI for the Reach article. You used AI and you should own your mistakes. GIM Dianliang233 (talk) 07:24, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
- I don't know how can I explain you that I don't use AI. If I didn't specify it in my comment above, I will do it now—I have not used AI to write the Reach page at all, and definitely not GenAI. Why will I own up to a mistake I've not even committed? Why would I own up to a mistake that doesn’t even exist? To satisfy someone's ego? Definitely not. The only problem here is that there is a prejudice against me just because I used AI for a few edits and a Rfa proposal during the very first days I joined this wiki as an editor, before the GENAI rules were created; this is uninspiring. -

CaishenZhēn233 (talk) 07:43, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
- The point I was trying to explain by listing some of the articles I've created was to tell that if I was so dependent on the use of AI and couldn't create a page without using it, how was I able to create all these other pages which have not been changed at all. I was trying to prove why I've not used AI in the Reach page. Also, I saw someone on Discord saying that the heading were AI-like. When making all the other articles, I usually have a starting point, something to refer to. For the Reach page, I had nothing for reference. So I used Breaking, the page previously linked as a redirect in the Reach page, as a reference. This can be seen through the first heading, 'Mechanics of Reach', which was choosen by me through the first heading of the Breaking page, 'Basics of Breaking'. There are also other things that match with it, but you can compare the two pages yourself or this comment would go on for too long. -

- The "reach" article and the way it's written has several very clear indicators that it's not 100% human-written, but that's beside the point. I don't even care about whether you've actually used AI or not to write that article. It's clear that you have not proofread the article at all, since there's multiple mistakes with templates. Additionally, it's not written in the same style as the rest of the wiki, instead it's using language that is overly formal, as well as bullet points rather than prose. A lot of facts are repeated multiple times in the article in multiple sections for no apparent reason. Again, all of those are indicators for AI usage but even if they aren't, it's just a poor-quality article.
- I appreciate you giving a list of other articles you've (partially) written, but that's not at all relevant to my argument. (that being said we should probably go through these as well and do a quality assessment of your summaries) | violine1101 (talk) 16:50, 20 March 2025 (UTC)

AI-generated replies?
How to deal with AI-generated replies? Should I just remove them and warn the user, or do what? Arina (she/her) 15:19, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
- This gives no indication to me of being AI generated. You certainly shouldn't be removing comments of an established community member solely on one person claiming it to be AI. Mudscape
talk 15:28, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
is very clearly AI-generated in my opinion. Arina (she/her) 15:42, 17 March 2025 (UTC)This feedback essentially contains two proposals and the feedback provider is requesting that one be implemented. The first is that villager trade tables be added to the Villager page, and the second is that the redirects for the villager professions (Cleric, Librarian, etc.) be changed from Villager#Professions to the appropriate section of Trading. Note: the outcome of this discussion may be influenced by another discussion on this talk page about whether to split the Villager page so each profession has its own page.
- Seems like Rampage being themselves to me. They’re generally very good at communicating in my experience. -BrianGLHF (talk) 15:46, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
- It is written very matter-of-fact, however it's not enough to tell for sure something is output of AI gen model, I doubt in this case it was. Frisk (talk) 15:46, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
- There are some major indicators that it isn't ai. 1) it sounds like rampage. So either they have been using an AI for months when doing good rewrites of technical pages, or that's just how they sound. 2) The response uses words and phrases that are not in the original feedback, such as "trade table", giving examples of villager professions, and linking to a subsection of a page. 3) It references another ongoing relevant discussion on the page.
- If rampage has an AI that can produce clear, cohesive, and helpful responses like this I would request they share it with the rest of us! Mudscape
talk 15:53, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, that really sounds like Rampage just doin' his thing and being a good user. Also, I find that generally AI uses weird words to make things sound more detailed when it really just makes it more confusing. I can see why it might seem a little like AI though. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 23:13, 17 March 2025 (UTC)

How can i extract entity models from version games files and convert them to bbmodels
How can I extract entity models from version game files and convert them into bbmodel file. assets/models doesn't have entity sub-folder at all. Where are the models located and how can i convert it to bbmodel. Please help.
(talk) 10:17, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- Maybe not definitive answer, because models might differ between editions, but for Bedrock you can get models directly from sample resourcepack at addon's templates section - model are located in models/entity folder and opening them as-is in blockbench will allow for importing additional data (like animations). As for Java Edition - you will have to decompile game's code because models are hardcoded. Oakar567 (talk) 11:38, 18 March 2025 (UTC)

There should be an image (like File:Mouse 1.svg) for the fifth mouse button (return button, appears on some mouses). Movie sprites
I think when the AMCM live event comes out, we should make sprites for the movie using the server resource pack textures. Buzzilaa (talk) 18:24, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

I think he is the right person to answer your question. I just know that in creation of many of those assets he was using: Inkscape, Paint.NET, GIMP, Krita and lately even Blender (at least for our funny ugly sheep that isn't officially used anywhere yet). Formal process for appealing an indefinite block
Just curious - is there any formal process for appealing an indefinite block, like on Wikipedia you can contact the Arbitration comittee or use Unblock Ticket Request System? Arina (she/her) 08:21, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- Not directly a formal process, but the user talk page is the general place to start. Should that access be restricted as well, using Special:Contact can be used as well. --
MarkusRost (talk) 12:36, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- The problem there is that no administrator is likely to come across a blocked user's appeal unless that user's talk page is on the administrator's watch list.
- What we do on Wikipedia is provide instructions in the block message to appeal the block using a specific template, which includes the user talk page in a category page that admins monitor. All links that follow are on Wikipedia.
- The generic block message is Template:Uw-block. It instructs the user to compose an appeal using the markup . That template is Template:Unblock. When the user does this, the appeal template adds the user's talk page to the page Category:Requests for unblock. We don't need the detailed tables shown on that category page, just the list of talk pages that contain an unresolved appeal would be sufficient, just like any other category page.
- It's a fairly simple and straightforward process. It just needs a couple of templates and a category page. Oh, and an information page like Wikipedia:Guide to appealing blocks is helpful to guide users in composing a successful appeal. We likely don't need something as detailed as that.
- Administrators regularly patrol that category page and respond to appeals. When I see an appeal that I think is good enough to warrant unblocking, the standard practice is to notify the blocking administrator first for agreement to unblock. ~Anachronist (talk) 03:13, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- While that is certainly an good process for Wikipedia, nothing like that is needed here. The wiki isn't nearly as active so talk page messages are less likely to be missed. We also only rarely issue blocks that could reasonably be appealed, with most blocks being vandalism-only accounts or LTAs. Blocks of constructive users are very much the exception, in which case the admin should add the user talk page to their watchlist. Template:Unblock itself has been deleted multiple times before and was mainly used by LTAs. --
MarkusRost (talk) 12:37, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- I have to disagree. While Minecraft Wiki is far from size of Wikipedia, it is still one of the bigger wiki sites in wiki spheres. Last month we have seen ~896 active accounts participating on the wiki, In last 60 days there were around 358 block logs generated, out of which 87 were indefinite bans, and 144 logs mention disabled talk page access (there is some over-represented statistical error due to me doing a very simple copy-paste/find lookup here). This is a pretty big amount of bans, and especially considering IP ranges blocked by abuse filters we have high chance of hitting some constructive users.
- When user is hit with indefinite block they are not expected to come back as per Wiki rules, however I think it's only rational that some users may want to come back without breaking the rules. In those cases it is my belief they should have any "legal" avenue of appealing the block. I don't disagree that majority of requests would still be denied, because as mentioned LTAs may often abuse the appeal process, but I feel like lack of legal avenue of appealing blocks, especially in case of indefinite blocks (like in case of StizzurpXDD) makes the system unjust for users who may want to come back and start anew. Just my two cents. Frisk (talk) 13:33, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- (there is also no question that administration team/CATS can make mistakes, we are fallible) Frisk (talk) 13:41, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- As mentioned in my initial comment, blocked users are still pointed to their user talk page (as well as the Discord) when blocked. We just don't have a formal policy and templates for how to request an unblock. --
MarkusRost (talk) 16:27, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- Again, this is not always a possibility for the user because talk page block is a case that we apply fairly frequently making it impossible for those users to appeal without socking. Discord - as shown recently, is not good enough to do that either, since there seems to be a shift in how Discord server is moderated that assumes that a banned user on the wiki is no longer welcome on Discord server as well.
- Those circumstances highlight the need for more formal process that could address those issues. Frisk (talk) 18:07, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- Exactly. It is a simple thing to create a block message template, a block appeal template, and a category page. The "we are not Wikipedia" excuse to avoid a simple process doesn't make sense when the processes on Wikipedia have been honed over more years by a much larger community. What I described isn't even a formal process, it's just a couple of convenience templates.
- The current state of affairs encourages socking. That's unacceptable. I'm an administrator, and I can't put every user's talk page on my watchlist. That isn't practical. Having a category page to monitor (or better still, transcluding that page into a section at MCW:ADMIN) would greatly enhance responsiveness to block appeals. ~Anachronist (talk) 22:09, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- True. Surely people should have the option to appeal without socking, which is currently not possible, especially when (or at least how I see it) an IP could make two "vandalism" edits and then get blocked indefinitely, with no talk page access. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 02:15, 30 March 2025 (UTC)

- Not on English Minecraft Wiki (Special:BlockList), only a single IP address is blocked indefinitely, and it belongs to documentation IP range that cannot be used by anyone. Frisk (talk) 13:50, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'm only stating my perspective, and to me it seems that accounts are indeffed often, so that's why I'm saying that. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:12, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- Accounts can be indef-blocked, but not IP addresses. When an account is blocked, there is an option to block the underlying IP address also, but that IP address block isn't indef even if the account block is indef. ~Anachronist (talk) 19:19, 30 March 2025 (UTC)

Revisiting an old idea of mine
So, in January I proposed to add some code to upcoming
and until
to add categories specific to particular versions. This would allow these templates to be removed much faster, because it would be so much simpler. The full code is in a subpage of my sandbox, but basically it would expand things like "je 1.22" or "combat tests" to "Java Edition 1.22" or "Java Edition Combat Tests". This would be used to add categories such as "Upcoming Java Edition 1.22" to pages transcluding the templates I have mentioned. Should this be added, or would this be unnecessary? -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 18:45, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- Maybe there could be a category for Upcoming Templates Pending Removal or something for after the version has come out and the pages with it will be put in it.
NmF (talk) 18:59, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- So... You're saying that once the update comes out, the category page would be created, which would put the pages in the category? -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 19:06, 23 March 2025 (UTC)

Subcategory for title screenshots
Category:Menu screenshots currently lists screenshots of different menu screens, as well as screenshots of the Title screen from every version. The latter is massively overwhelming the category, making it difficult to navigate through it when finding screenshots of other menu screens. I suggest to create a subcategory Category:Title screenshots or Category:Title screens and move all title screenshots there. But I'm not sure whether to subcategorize this further into title screenshots for every edition or leave it there. MinecraftBedrockPlayer7 (talk)(contribs) 10:57, 2 April 2025 (UTC)

- What about EE?
Miner(
talk
contributions) 13:25, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oh yeah, that too. Any editions that are not discontinued are notable enough to have their own category, IMO. LCE, even though discontinued, are not derivatives of other editions (like how Pi and 3DS are derivatives of Pocket Edition, and then turned into BE) and their UIs are very iconic on their own to be notable. Outrowed (talk) 13:32, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- What about EE?
- I recommend split to JE, BE, and LCE. For other legacy editions (Pi Edition, 3DS Edition, who knows what), we simply put it "generally" on Category:Title screenshots. Outrowed (talk) 13:09, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- We may need a template to auto categorize based on file names.

Simple question
(I don't know what to title this...)
Anyways, so I'm try to make it so that a page could have a different appearance depending on the user viewing it. I tried
, but that didn't work. Is there some sort of magic word or something that displays the username of the user viewing it? -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:43, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- Currently no, but I don't think it would be hard to implement. The caveat is that it would be done only when the page is displayed(for technical reasons), meaning you couldn't change the page appearance aside from just inserting the username in a sentence. Mudscape

- Hmm. Why exactly wouldn't it be able to interact with parser functions? -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:59, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- Because when the page is parsed by the server it doesn't know who is going to be viewing it. The server only parses pages when page content changes, not every time the page is viewed. Mudscape

- Doesn't transcluding Special:Editcount purge the page on page load? -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 15:06, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- That transclusion will cause the page to be reparsed fairly often, but thats different from reparsing on every user. If you had to reparse a page for every user then there would be a noticeable delay to page loading. Mudscape

- Can we use JavaScript? There is a function that returns the current user's username: mw.user.getName() — Hoangminhle

- Yes this is the solution I was thinking of using. The JavaScript would apply on page load, so it won't be usable in parser functions. Mudscape

How do I upscale a mob icon?
How do I upscale an icon for a mob with a texture of 8x8 pixels and NOT make it look ugly? – Unsigned comment added by 4ngryth3fan (talk • contribs) at 14:58, 6 April 2025 (UTC). Please sign comments with ~~~~
- @4ngryth3fan Forum is not right place for small questions. You can use
class=pixel-image
for that. For example:

Friendly reminder about moving pages
Tl;Dr: remember to check for double redirects when moving pages!
Full message: Hello fellow editors. In the past I've fixed numerous double redirects (redirects targeting other redirects), and recently I've also sent some messages about it. Especially since there are a lot of these redirects at the moment, I thought I'd provide a reminder for the general editor community, and not just the users I've messaged as well as WikiJaguars like myself. Anyway, basically, when moving pages and leaving redirects, remember to check Special:DoubleRedirects for any DRs that might have been created by the page move. These should generally be avoided, especially in the content spaces where readers might find these. These might cause confusion among readers and inexperienced editors, because these are the ones that don't know about redirects. Other namespaces in which DRs are problematic may include File, Template, and Category. This is due to the fact that these are namespaces that have content transcluded or used similarly. Other namespaces (User, Minecraft Wiki, etc) aren't as problematic, as they are either not viewed often or used mainly by editors. Anyways, good day to you all. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 23:27, 8 April 2025 (UTC)
Is it true?
Isn't it true that users should not reveal their age if they are under 13, as this will cause them to be banned from the wiki?
If they're underage, they shouldn't show their age for good reasons.
Also, if a user is found to be under 13, they will be blocked until the day they turn 13? (unless they also engage in some form of disruptive behavior).
And even if a unblock request is sent later, will there be exceptions (Like if the age was accidentally set?) 74.201.73.194 01:33, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

Upcoming and until for drops
How do I use upcoming
and until
for game drops? If I type summer drop 2025
it just shows [upcoming drop 2025], so is there a way to fix it? Or do I just have to type je 1.21.6
? --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 03:00, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
- It has not been implemented yet, the template code... is a mess, but I can see we cannot use the game drops as the upcoming parameter. Unfortunately, the template is protected so that directors can only edit, in meanwhile, you may use
je 1.21.6
. Outrowed (talk) 10:57, 10 April 2025 (UTC)- Well, ok then. Thanks. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 11:16, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
Wiki Marathon Extravaganza Day of Awesomeness
I may be considerably to blame for this, but as the wiki is currently, many maintenance categories are overflowing with claims needing checked, especially for historical details. Category:Information needed, for example, contains over 650 entries.
To resolve this, could we as a community dedicate certain days to testing things en-masse and filling in these gaps in information? The MCDF wiki already does this with WMEDA events, so I think this idea could work here as well provided enough people are willing to collectively put in the effort. - User-12316399 (talk) 10:17, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
- I think this idea has potential. We'd probably have a page for it with a central discussion place for it, and then we could go crazy on it! I know that I'd be able to upload lots of MCL files. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:16, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
Mini-Series
Even though the mini-series came out a long time ago and people forgot about it, I think it is necessary to create a separate namespace for it, so that the pages about the series do not conflict with the pages about the game content. Also can create a Mini-Series:Wiki page, similar to the Wiki pages of other Minecraft projects, so that new people can learn about it. Buzzilaa (talk) 16:30, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
