replace rant with licensing blurb
(add rant about the Curse TOS, contributing to wikis, and GFDL/CC content licenses)
(replace rant with licensing blurb)
Line 3:
As far as Minecraft is concerned, I've been playing since before the Halloween Update - since August or September 2010, perhaps. I started out playing in Classic, but purchased an Alpha code either sometime around the Halloween Update, or shortly before the official release of Beta (can't remember which, for some reason). I have a sneaking suspicion I actually stumbled across Minecraft, in some way, several months before I actually started playing, but I can't be sure and have no idea how I might have come across it. Oh, and here's my uncustomized skin, for what it's worth.

Template contributionsLicensing
I give my permission for my [ Template namespace contributions], as well as any 1 }}/vector.css|CSS and 1 }}/vector.js|Javascript I write, to be used on other wikis under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License, provided that attribution is given (this attribution must consist at minimum of a hyperlink or URL pointing to the original page on this wiki). I also encourage other editors (both on this and other Curse-operated wikis) to adopt a similar policy in regards to their own Template namespace contributions; this can be done simply by copying this notice into their own userspace.
:Warning: rant ahead. Any misconceptions or factual errors present are entirely my own; feel free to [ correct me].
Having skimmed the Curse TOS, it appears that all content on any Curse website (including the wikis) belongs to Curse and may not be reused without permission. I don't have much of a complaint about this in general, but it is more than sufficient to lead me to the decision not to contribute anything substantial to any templates on Curse wikis. If, in trying to solve a problem, I develop some ingenious template that could be used on all sorts of wikis, I hardly want to be prevented by some asinine TOS which clearly wasn't designed with wikis in mind.

Any files I upload will have licensing specified on their file description pages; most files I own the rights to will be uploaded with a CC license.
This TOS, however, is probably also incompatible with GFDL/Creative Commons content licenses, as it suggests that any content copied from other wikis also automatically belongs to Curse, and several templates here have been copied directly from Wikipedia (and possibly also Wikia). This is quite obviously an outrageous (and possibly illegal) conclusion that needs to be addressed by whatever legal counsel Curse retains as soon as humanly possible.
