Template:Ping

This template sends a mention notification to user(s) in a discussion by linking to their user page, and is syntactic sugar for doing so manually.

Note that it isn't necessary to use this template to ping the user if you are already linking to their username elsewhere in your post, or if you are on their talk page which automatically generates notifications.

Usage

Single recipient

Use the following syntax:

{{Ping|Username}}

For example, {{Ping|Majr}} will produce:

Majr

Multiple recipients

You can reply to multple people at once, using the following syntax:

{{Ping|User1|User2|User3|User4|User5}}

For example, {{Ping|Example|Jimbo Wales}} will produce:

Example and Jimbo Wales

Limitations

The notification system will only trigger if the edit belongs to a section and has a signature. See Wp:Notifications for details.
