I made a pic of an upside-down one, that you might want to add... I can't be bothered making an account to upload it; it's at imgur.com/hurVADh (and I can't post a direct link here, it won't permit it) 88.104.29.236 23:44, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
:Added. <
::Those are great, Four combinations possible (in the Pic), including the Chickens-themselves, being I-guess flippable, by their own "Dinnerbone" (there's another, Notch pretty sure), -named Name Tag. I'm just saying I missed that point, in the previous 2 re-views, of this stuff, hee hee.
Line 103:
: When initially spawning, baby zombies have a 1:20 chance of checking for an existing nearby chicken, then spawning as a jockey of that chicken. If they aren't the type to mount an existing chicken, then instead they have a 1:20 chance of spawning as a chicken jockey.
: And zombie pigmen have the exact same initially-spawning rules as zombies. So yeah, they can do that. – Sealbudsman <span style="transform: rotate(-16deg); display: inline-block; top: -1px; position: relative;">talk/contr</span> 23:49, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, they can in the new Nether. If the player goes too far away from it, the Zombified Piglin will de-spawn and there will just be a chicken.
Drowned chicken jockey
The spawn information for the drowned chicken jockey still needs to be added. jjlr (talk) 04:03, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
My chicken jockeys still lay eggs even after 1.8
When I spawn my jockeys with commands, they still lay eggs. Enderdespawnmite (talk) 01:23, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
That is becuase jockey chickens contain a special tag that makes them unable to lay eggs, a tag you likely did not include in your summon command. Aceplante (talk) 06:47, 13 August 2022 (UTC)Aceplante
Experience
The entity template says the chicken drops 10 experience, but the drops section says it drops 1 to 3 experience. Why do they say different things? an_awsome_person (talk) 01:40, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
Merge with Zombie or completely split from zombie articles
Inspired by this comment by PancakeIdentity, should we merge this article with Zombie or remove all jockey-related information from that article and the articles for other zombie variants (in particular Husk and Zombie Villager have information on jockeys)? Currently the typical chicken jockey behavior is described here, while apparently similar Bedrock behavior is described on the articles for zombie variants. Assuming this is an inconsistency that needs to be addressed, how would we do it? --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 17:57, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
:I'd personally support moving all the information here. It'd keep it in one area without having duplicate information across multiple zombie variant pages. If we do move all the information to this page, I'd suggest a rename of this page to reflect Bedrock's behavior. -PancakeIdentity (talk) 19:28, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
:I think the behavior of Baby Zombie in Bedrock should split into separate pages such as "Riding", just like the behavior of Baby Piglin riding Baby Hoglin. This is clearly different, because the Chicken Jockey in Java and the Spider Jockey spawn already in the Riding state at they spawn. Pneuma01 (talk) 12:57, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
:I agree, i think they should make a jockeys page that show different types of mobs and what mob they ride in in what edition. James Haydon (talk) 20:22, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
:Remove all jockey info but still add a main template, reason being is that these mobs can also ride other mobs be and adding all that info is too much, maybe add the jockey info in this page? For spider jockeys, instead of having just main, add a short description including main, however only on the Spider article this additionall info should go as spider jockeys spawn on a spider spawn, not a skeleton spawn---Humiebee Discuss anything with me Look at my edits 20:34, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
Chance For the Rarest Jockey Possible
The article says that that there is a "1 in 1.9921×10^35" chance for a "baby zombie villager to spawn wearing enchanted full diamond armor and holding an enchanted iron sword while riding a chicken." The number was added by an anonymous editor about a year ago (although it has changed to a percentage and "1 in . . ." form since then). What is the math behind that number? Given the best conditions, it includes the probability of:
*A zombie being a baby (5%)
*The probability of it spawning as a chicken jockey (5%)
*The probability of it having armor (15%)
*The probability of it being enchanted (50% or 50%^4, depending on whether the "Armor Enchantment" probability applies to each armor item separately or all at once)
*The probability of it being a full set (72.9%)
*The probability of it being diamond (0.04% or 0.04%^4, depending on whether the "Chances of different armor types" applies to each armor item separately or all at once)
*The probability of it having a weapon (5%)
*The probability of it being an iron sword (33.3%)
*The probability of it being enchanted (5%).
If the two uncertain probabilities apply to each armor item all at once, it comes out to about 1 in 2.1970×10^10. If it is applied to each armor item separately, it is about 1 in 2.6462×10^21. Is the original number in error, is there something missing from this calculation? Either way, a correct calculation should be in the article in some form. Slscool (talk) 16:59, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

Rename to Zombie Jockey and add all of the baby zombie riding other animals from Bedrock Edition
It would make a lot more sense. Bedrock Edition zombie babies can spawn riding almost any animal Spectrogram (talk) 08:57, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
:It will be difficult to change this name. This issue has been debated for years. Perhaps the reason for the inconclusive nature of this issue is that in the past, developers have also referred to these in Bedrock Edition simply as Chicken Jockey. == Can baby zombie chicken jockeys spawn from regular zombie spawners? ==
I've tried finding it out. This 2014 forum post suggests that chicken jockeys indeed can spawn. But some bug reports don't make it clear if chicken jockeys spawning from zombie spawners is intentional or not. Would be nice if this article gave a definitive answer to this question. —andrybak (talk) 14:24, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
: I've done it myself in 1.18.1. Answer: yes. They definitely do. Not sure how to test if addition of chickens to the vicinity of the spawner helps or not. —andrybak (talk) 00:43, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
::Java or Bedrock? I have seen thousands of zombies spawn from a spawner in my flooded dungeon farm, and not a single one has ever spawned riding a chicken. Amatulic (talk) 02:40, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

|feedback=A Chicken Jockey spawning is exclusive to Java Edition?

:Jockeys spawning already mounted on a chicken is exclusive to Java. In Bedrock baby zombies always spawn mountless, and have instead a 15% chance of having the ability to mount another existing mob when targeting something.--Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 15:19, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
::I've rewritten the section a bit to make this a bit clearer.
