Hey guys, did anyone notice the "bring a ghast home" to the overworld? maybe in trivia?

::: Sure! Currently the majority of us are tending towards a word close to "progress". MinecraftPhotos4U, If we could use Category:Tamable mobs to DPL-generate the list, it would be more maintainable. I was just thinking if they change the requirements of the food advancement, for instance, it's obvious and someone will update this page immediately. But if they add a tamable mob, we'll probably forget to update this -- if it's a static list. ::::Anterdc99, please explain yourself better. I'm not about to use a command to grant an advancement in a real game. I DID the advancement (the right way), and the new advancement showed up. ::::::New game, creative, Java 1.17.1 vanilla. After getting the advancement "Fishy Business", this is what it looks like: https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/w/File:Missing_Advancement_Healing_Power_of_Friendship.png.

::::::So, by "basic mechanic", do you mean this is the way it always works? SirDaddicus (talk) 14:06, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
:::::::Definitely. Whether unlock an advancement through normal gameplay or command, it works. To confirm this, you can unlock Tactical fishing only instead of Fishy business only, and see differences of their shown downstrem advancements. Or see Acquire Hardwares & Hot Stuffs downstream advancements' difference (the example which I provided above) or test something else to see similar differences.
:::::::I reverted your edit because you only wrote on The Healing Power of Friendship!, is not suitable for a rule which applied to all advancements, you should mention it in every single advancement instead, or mention it in the summary of all advancements (I did this in Special:PermanentLink/2000874).--&nbsp;&nbsp;<b style="font:100% Trebuchet MS;"><span style="color:#FF8000;">Anterdc99</span>(T·C)</b> 15:19, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

when the game updates to 1.18/1.19 will some of my advancements lose progress??
i realized now that maybe advancements might lose progress due to new things being added. here's what i mean:

warden- contributes to "Monsters Hunted"
darkness effect- contributes to "How Did We Get Here?" and possible "A Furious Cocktail"
meadow, grove, snowy slopes, jagged peaks, frozen peaks, and jagged peaks (and possibly the deep dark)-contribute to "Adventuring Time"
removal of transitional biomes/removal of biome variations- used to contribute to "Adventuring Time"
frogs- contribute to "Two by Two" (unconfirmed)

am i gonna have to get all of these things done again? even if i just have to breed the frogs or find those biomes its still gonna be a lot of work. also PLEASE dont tell me i gotta redo How Did We Get Here? that would suck

: No, you won't need to get How Did We Get Here? or A Furious Cocktail again, don't worry. As for the rest, you'll only have to do the new requirements; that means you'll only have to breed frogs and visit the new biomes once. Mojang has also stated that you should not try to kill the warden, so there is no way they are gonna add it to Monsters Hunted.ManosSef (talk) 20:11, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

Radii of two boss-related advancements
The advancements "Withering Heights" and "The End... Again..." are triggered not by player action, but by being near where an event happens. "Withering Heights" is granted to all players within a certain distance of a wither's summoning, and "The End... Again..." is granted to all players within a certain distance to the exit portal when the dragon is re-summoned. The exact range within which players would receive these two advancements, however, is unclear. Can someone do some code-digging and figure it out? == Allow explanations of references in advancement titles ==

We should add an explanations column to the advancements tables. While it can be considered speculation, we have already made exceptions to this. Look at the splashes page - what are the explanations there if not speculation? Any that are sourced are few and far between. It’s all just guesses, but granted, they are guesses that are probably correct. So why can’t this apply to the advancements page? If an exception can be made for splashes, then one can be made for advancements. - BD (talk) 15:19, 8 April 2024 (UTC)

: The explanation coloumn you are mentioning is already there in the form of Actual Requirements (if different) and it pretty much completely explains how to get the advancement. : Weak support. I do not like speculation on wikis and I fully get why the reference subsection was removed. Yet, I reckon that an exception for advancements and achievements could be made as long as it's kept under a subsection, stated using the conditional tense rather than the affirmative tense (unlike what it used to be) and somehow moderated enough so that far-fetched speculations are not added among the obvious references (which is the most challenging point to enforce and what leads me not to fully support the proposal). - Zamburger (talk) 16:28, 8 April 2024 (UTC)

: Oppose. I stand by that any references in advancement names must be sourced to a Mojang employee. BDJP (t|c) 00:36, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
:: Are you not going to engage with the point of splashes at all? Those aren't sourced, yet are kept up. Why shouldn't the same thing apply here? You seem to be pointlessly adament on not making an exception despite us having done so already for another page. Would it kill us to provide some helpful context for advancement titles? It's honestly stranger to not have it, a lot of the time people go to wikis to see trivia like this, and I can definitely imagine a lot of users wanting to see advancement title references. I myself went to the page seeking it, and was shocked to see nothing. - BD (talk) 00:44, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
::: The reason why splashes were given an exception is that some references to those are obvious and unambiguous behind a reasonable doubt. BDJP (t|c)

1.20.5's experimental changes for 1.21 aren't in their own section
The title says it all. I tried editing the source and I noticed that the <code>dev</code> and <code>exp</code> fields (I don't know if they're actually called fields, but I'm calling them that) were in the opposite order compared to how they were for 1.20.3's 1.21 experiments. I tried changing the order, but previewing the edit showed no change. Upon closer examination of the other "experimental" sections I noticed that 1.20.5 was the only update which had other advancement changes as well as the experimental changes. Could this be an issue with the way these tables are coded? Davie53 (talk) 21:32, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

:There was an oversight on how experimental versions are applied in the history section. I think it will be a quick fix, I will work on it now. Mudscape (talk) 21:42, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

Split proposal?
I don't understand why this page should be split. Singular advancements do not have enough info to warrant a full page, as per MCW:N#General rule 1.
