After beating [[MCD:Creeper Woods|Creeper Woods]] for the first time, the hero will find one emerald chest near camp that contains 50 emeralds. They can be used in the [[MCD:Camp|Camp]] to purchase [[MCD:Item|items]] from the [[MCD:Luxury Merchant|Luxury Merchant]], [[MCD:Village Merchant|Village Merchant]] and the [[MCD:Mystery Merchant|Mystery Merchant]]. They can also be used to gift items to other playersheroes with the [[MCD:Gift Wrapper|Gift Wrapper]] and upgrade items with the [[MCD:Blacksmith|Blacksmith]]. They can also be used to save the hero from death with the {{DuEnchantmentLink|Death Barter}} enchantment and can give the playerhero temporary immunity in the form of the [[MCD:Emerald Shield|Emerald Shield]] effect. On some [[MCD:Daily Trial|Daily Trials]], the hero can be healed by 4four [[MCD:Health Heart|health points]] per emerald collected.
